Recent analysis in Third Sector explores the current funding landscape for UK charities and its impact on grant-makers, featuring insights from ACF chief executive Carol Mack and director of policy, practice and research Catherine Seymour, and the experiences of some ACF member foundations. As highlighted in Emily Harle's article, while other funding sources have declined, grants from foundations remain one of the few stable sources of support for charities. This has led to some notable trends among grant-makers: 📈 Application volumes have increased significantly for many funders ⚖️ Many grant teams are adapting their processes to manage higher demand ⏸️ Some funders are pausing new grant-making to review and adjust their programmes to better serve the charities, organisations and individuals they support. Carol and Catherine discuss how ACF members are responding to these challenges and the importance of collaboration between funders when considering programme changes, to understand the impact on the wider ecosystem. Have you read NPC's first 'state of the sector' report since 2020 yet? Some really interesting and important insights have emerged from this survey of charity leaders and members of the public. One of the most alarming figures suggests that some charities are dipping into their own fundraising to deliver public sector contracts. The geographical distribution of charitable efforts is another key area that needs looking at, particularly according to the members of the public that were surveyed. Have a look on the link below and let us know your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/dnEsiYfb

This is worth a listen! Fundraising Institute Australia CEO Katherine Raskob MIM, GAICD discusses the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on charitable donations with Hilary Harper on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio National. Australians are finding it tough! More than a quarter of respondents in the Fundraising Institute Australia / More Strategic Pty Ltd May 2024 survey on public attitudes towards giving said they plan to donate less in the coming year, with 73% attributing this to their economic situation and rising costs. More than ever, we need to adapt our strategies and think outside the square, focusing on demonstrating the critical need and value of our work, engaging donors in new ways, and exploring alternative revenue streams. #CharitableGiving #FundraisingChallenges #CostOfLivingCrisis #Donations #Philanthropy #EconomicImpact
