𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? International Women's Day was proposed by Clara Zetkin in 1910, an advocate for women's rights, was first celebrated in 1911. This very day aims to highlight and raise awareness on women's equality, and commemorate women's achievements globally. Being the world's first female engineer, Edith Clarke (1883 - 1959) braved herself amidst the prejudice she had faced in the early stages of her career, which includes not being able to find job as an engineer despite her great results achieved at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is now greatly known for her invention, the graphical calculator, a necessary tool for engineers! (Mcfadden, 2018) The world's technology is constantly and rapidly revolutionising, with an increasing number of women stepping into the technology world, making remarkable changes. But let's not forget despite their remarkable talent and dedication, women remain underrepresented in construction and engineering fields. In the United States, women make up only about 13% of the engineering workforce, according to the National Science Foundation. It's time to change that statistic. In this article, various industry stakeholders share their valuable insights to the challenges women face and give some practical advice that companies and individuals can implement to support attracting more women into the industry. #INWED24 #EnergyIndustry #EnergyTransition

The perpetuation of objectifying women in the media is a stark reflection of our society's deep-rooted issue. Until we change the way women are portrayed in ads, videos, and movies, the mentality of viewing women as objects will persist. It's time to shatter the glass ceiling and challenge the status quo. We need to create a world where women are valued as human beings, not mere objects for gratification. Men, it's crucial to recognize and change your thoughts about women. See them as equals, as individuals with agency and autonomy. Women, teach your sons to respect and cherish women. Instill in them the values of equality and empathy. Together, let's create a society where women can thrive without boundaries or limitations. Where they can: - Pursue their careers, - Make their own choices, and - Live their lives without fear of judgment or objectification. Only then can we hope for a future where women can proudly say: #IWasnt objectified, #IWasnt harassed, #IWasnt held back.
