'Our Schools Our World' - Free climate curriculum programme.
We are excited to offer this opportunity in partnership with the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere and Brighton & Hove City Council, FULLY FUNDED by Let's Go Zero. Senior leaders in Devon schools will be able to access free training and support for the 24/25 academic year.
If you know of a North Devon/Devon or possibly London school that could benefit, please put them in touch with me on: jess@planetandpeople.co.uk.

Further details:
Planet & People CIC is working together with Brighton & Hove Council, which is leading the way nationally with their transformative whole authority approach to sustainability and climate change in schools which has been recognised as best practice by the Department for Education, NEU, National Climate Education Action Plan and UNESCO.
Thanks to funding from Let’s Go Zero, they are able to share their approach with four other authorities and we’re delighted that we’ve been selected to work with them and lead the programme in the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere and the wider Devon county over the next academic year.
We’re offering 20+ schools the opportunity to be involved with this pioneering work, named ‘Our Schools Our World’. Alongside access to bespoke training, resources and support, schools will benefit from a robust framework co-developed by schools. This approach differs from other sustainability projects in it ensures sustainability becomes a whole school agenda and is led by the headteacher and governors alongside a senior programme lead.

It looks like palm oil producers and those that produce commodities associated with deforestation are getting shaky about the introduction of the EUDR. A bold move from the EU, this (stunning) legislation will not allow imports of products linked to deforestation to the EU.
Provenance and ethical production are more important than ever!
If you're in the market for deforestation free raw and organic coconut oil (and other products), get in touch with me: jess@aluan.co. Our partners at Koltiva are ensuring our supply chain is fully traceable and transparent and we are compliant with EUDR. Over and above, we run conservation programmes in Indonesia and our business model is centred on people and planet.

Blue Peter has launched a contest to find young inventors, problem solvers and change-makers across the UK.
The new Blue Peter competition will give creative young minds the chance to be recognised by Prince William’s prestigious Earthshot Prize.
The prize highlights people and businesses around the globe who are working to solve issues linked to the environment and climate change.
Blue Peter is looking for aspiring environment champions and leaders between the ages of 5 to 15 to submit an idea or invention which they think will help create a healthy and sustainable future.
Entrants will need to explain what their idea looks like, how it can be used and what benefit it could bring to the planet.
If you are thinking of entering, you'll also need to submit a drawing or poster to bring your idea to life.
All ideas will need to be linked to one of the five Earthshots or goals which are the focus of the prize. These are:
Fix our climate
Protect and restore nature
Clean our air
Revive our oceans
Build a waste-free world
All the ideas submitted will be judged in age categories and there will be five overall winners, one for each of the Earthshot categories.
The winners will each receive a certificate and win an exclusive Blue Peter Orange badge which is given to competition winners.
They will also be invited to take part in special VIP filming with Blue Peter and will receive a copy of the Earthshot Prize book 'A Handbook for Dreamers and Thinkers: Solutions to Repair our Planet'.

>>> POWER TO THE PEOPLE <<<
It was a privilege to join fifty or so others at the Exeter Picturehouse this afternoon to view this short documentary showcasing energy choices, opportunities and innovations in Cornwall presented by local surfer and geologist.
A wonderfully positive, beautiful and informative introduction to the challenges and opportunities that Cornwall has to offer as we race to net zero.
From ground source heat pumps to recycled vegetable oil, solar farms (harvesting energy from the sun as well as farming livestock) and offshore wind farms to geothermal energy - so much covered in so little time. Well done to all involved in bringing your stories to the big screen.
Brilliant to open up the discussion to the audience with some very knowledgeable panel members and to continue it with Claire, producer of these Cornish climate stories afterwards. Sterling effort - thank you!
It would be great to see more screenings across the South West and propel the discussion across the region and beyond! If you would like to host a screening in your community and need support on how to do so, please get in touch.
Very much looking forward to the next documentary in the series coming later this year at the Cornwall Film Festival.

The summer holidays are nearly at an end and we are revving ourselves up to get back to work and a busy Autumn calendar of:
💚 Planet Action Workshops supported by @southwestwater and @tesco
💚 Rolling out training and support for headteachers in the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere with support via the #ourschoolsourworld programme to help schools embed an environmental curriculum.
💚 Potential collaborations with Cornwall Climate Care - look up their screening of 'Power To The People' this weekend at the Exeter Picture house.
💚 Conservation and raw organic coconut oil sales with āluān and Ecosystem Impact Foundation as we build a regenerative model to finance and protect vulnerable rainforest on Simeulue Island, Indonesia.
Plenty to look forward to!
I'm lucky enough to be able to focus on family during the summer hols. Nature connection has been the theme of the season as a screen-free (apart from Wimbledon and the Olympics of course!) summer has enabled me to observe and learn through the eyes of my children. Simplicity, natural treasures, creativity and adventure have made way for growth and learning.
Environmental challenges and discussion points have unveiled themselves in all sorts of ways and places from thinking about the effects of fish farming in Scotland to getting an insight about climate refugees in Fairbourne, Wales. Lots to learn, lots to improve.
We're excited for a season of impact. If you would like to discuss how we can help you to communicate your environmental efforts clearly and effectively or would like to find out more about any of our ongoing projects, please get in touch!

Cheeky monkeys like these Simeulue Long Tailed Macaques love to eat coconuts. Because of this, farmers will sometimes poison them. Sadly, the macaques are now critically endangered in Simeulue.
Coconut farmers can’t be blamed. They are the poorest farmers in Indonesia and are protecting their already limited economic asset and their family wellbeing.
Groups like The Long Tailed Macaque Project @theltmproject work tirelessly to protect this species. Without them farmers - and āluān - wouldn’t be aware of their extremely vulnerable state.
With this knowledge and in partnership with coconut farmers and buyers committed to insetting we can work on solutions together for all to thrive in the landscape.
