this! my God it's so frustrating applying for graphic design positions and they list every skillset under the art degree program. Graphic designers with 10+ years of experience are specialists and there's a reason these are considered different disciplines in school

I completely concur that continuous learning and growth are essential for professionals.
However, it's important to recognize that attempting to be a 'jack of all trades' can lead to being a 'master of none.'
This paradox is often evident in the hiring practices of companies, which frequently seek individuals with a broad range of skills, only to later lament the scarcity of specialized designers in the job market.
This phenomenon has led many talented designers to opt for the freelance path, where they can focus on honing their craft and delivering high-quality work.

Hirers should know the actual definition of GRAPHIC DESIGNER, just not assume and add software expertise by own. Not All expectations can be fulfilled by the one. There are many company's who post job opportunities for Graphic Designer with loads of requirements and expectations where some needs are unneccessary. It's SCARY to read sometimes. Expecting more creativity and expertise with low budget is not worth anyway. The roles and responsibilities should be defined well. So the seekers won't feel demotivated and pressurized just by going through the post.

I dropped a comment on this post and I've been getting some steady feedback from it, so I'm sharing it here. My comment was:
"I'm seeing similar posts in the software sector. UI developers are being rejected for not having experience in support and security roles, not knowing how to use photoshop, not having experience with technology that was just released a few months ago, and not having 5 years of experience plus a PhD after their fourth year of college. All while trying to low-ball the salary.
Yet corporate profits are still relatively high and workers with talent and drive are abundant. The problem isn't that there's no talent, the problem is there's no thought behind the hiring processes. Stop trying to emulate Google/Microsoft/etc. and get someone in the seat. If they don't work out don't hesitate to let them go. We're expected to meet production consistently, so why do recruiters and hiring teams get to let their productivity slide?"
I didn't capture the full nuance of my opinion with these words and I used some exaggeration to make my point (5 YoE and a PhD after 4 years of college) but I stand by them. Hiring is borken and disco nnected in the modern market.
I should also like to make it clear that I am NOT blaming hiring teams and recruiters in and of themselves. We are all victims of bad practices that we need to work together to fix. I consider myself a business person before a software engineer and from the business perspective I LOATHE inefficiencies that cause waste. With bad hiring practices the waste for business is twofold: reduced production from lack of talent and lack of revenue from potential customers spending time looking for work.
Hiring isn't just about getting the job done, it's about empowering consumers to dedicate disposable income to your bottom line.

I completely agree with Vanshika Khanna's perspective. It's incredibly discouraging to see how most companies in Pakistan expect graphic designers to have extensive experience in UI/UX or web design, yet offer significantly low salaries. For instance, the average salary for a senior graphic designer in Pakistan can typically range from PKR 100,000 to 150,000 PKR or more per month, but many job listings offer much less despite demanding high levels of expertise and diverse skill sets. This disparity not only undervalues the profession but also creates a challenging environment for designers striving to grow and sustain their careers. It's high time companies recognize the true worth of graphic designers and offer compensation that reflects their skills and contributions.

These overloading requirements can result in discouraging high performing candidates who may be a great fit for your company.
It can be beneficial for both parties to consider this point of view.

3moI agree! And on top of wanting us to do the jobs of 5 other people they don’t care to reflect that in the salary.
