🤔 Seeking Insights: Managing a Challenging Situation in Retail Sales Hello LinkedIn Community, I’m facing a unique challenge at one of our retail stores and would love to get your thoughts and suggestions. We have a sales associate who has been with us for over 12 years. She’s an exceptional salesperson, truly dedicated, and loves what she does. However, there’s a catch. She tends to dominate the sales floor to the extent that it hinders others’ performance. If someone starts performing better than her, she somehow ensures they don’t stay long. She’s not interested in moving up the ladder or taking on more senior roles, but she also doesn’t like anyone else shining in her department. This situation is affecting our store’s ability to maximize sales, especially during busy times. What is most exciting about my job as an Enterprise Account Executive? The opportunity to revolutionize the operations of the largest companies in the world. And why is that exciting? 1) Impact. With Cleveron, I am able to fundamentally change how large retailers define their omnichannel. Given their size, my work directly influences the lives of thousands of people who are the customers of those retail companies. 2) Complex sales cycles. Largest companies in the world have multiple stakeholders, large legal teams and complex processes. Persuading multiple stakeholders to improve these complex processes to later negotiate with a huge legal team is tough but fascinating and extremely rewarding at the same time. 3) Brands. Some of the brands that I get to work with are almost mythical to me. Whether I like it or not, those brands are so large that they have influenced my life literally since birth. The fact that these brands have grown to be the largest companies in the world means that they have significantly influenced the way society operates. A common question retail leaders ask me these days is, "What am I qualified for?" The answer is "A lot." It just depends on what you want to do and what opportunities are available in your area. Here are a few examples. As a retail leader, you could: - Leverage your experience in sales and transition to account management or B2B sales. You could manage an outside sales territory or lead an inside sales team. - Leverage your experience in operations and P&L management to lead a team in a production, warehouse, or distribution environment. (Warehouse and distribution is huge these days.) - Leverage your customer service and conflict resolution skills to lead a team in a high-volume call/contact center. - Leverage your experience in inventory control to get a job with a third-party inventory services company. (I used to do that.) - Leverage your experience in recruiting to get a position in talent acquisition. (I see a lot of former retail leaders do that.) - Leverage your experience in training to take on a role in course development and program facilitation. - Leverage your experience in community engagement and team leadership to join a non-profit organization as a volunteer coordinator or program manager.
