Helping lawyers delegate their way to freedom @Get Staffed Up | Protecting honest business owners from getting legally screwed @Trembly Law | EO SoFlo | Speaker | Best Selling Author: 24 Months to Freedom
Dreams are free, right? I think dreams can come true if we pay the price by taking action. It’s a dream to manage your schedule, take your family on any vacation you want, and work on something that ignites your passion. That’s probably the long-term dream you had when you first started your law firm and it seems further away now that you face the reality of all the work behind the scenes. You’re so busy, but is that taking you anywhere near your goals? Maybe not, and that’s where you need to step in and decide what tasks are contributing to your goals and which ones you could delegate, eliminate, or automate. That’s the way to get unstuck and finally move closer to your dream law firm and life. Don’t risk your growth for the fear of trading your busy lawyer mindset for the one of a successful law entrepreneur. Quality over quantity of tasks on your list. What’s another step you’d take to get closer to your goals? ----------------------------------- 🔔 Hit my Bell for weekly tips on law firm staffing, delegation, and leadership. 🌎 Visit Get Staffed Up for more information on how to delegate your way to FREEDOM! #lawfirm #lawyers #leadership #getstaffedup #virtualassistants

Is BigLaw's Partner Track Right For You? Here are five law firm leaders' thoughts on associates pursuing this path: 🔹 Jose Glynias (Employment Law Partner at Husch Blackwell) ''If you enjoy the things most partners do, the pros are you get to do it all the time'' 🔹 Jacey Prupas (Commercial Litigation Partner at Snell & Wilmer) ''Bringing in clients and building business takes a growth mindset and a lot of grit'' 🔹 Lauren Resnick (White-collar Crime and Corporate Investigations Partner at BakerHostetler) ''Associates need to understand that business development takes a long time'' 🔹 Kathryn Marquez (Global Director of Learning & Development at BCLP) ''Being a partner, inherently you're an entrepreneur'' 🔹 Lauren Hakala (Legal L&D leader at Reed Smith) ''The best way to decide what you want to do with your career is to talk to people'' It seems the main themes for becoming a law firm partner are cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset and seeking diverse perspectives. If you are still determining your next step towards partnership or in-house, feel free to get in touch and I'll be happy to catch up. To my dear Solo Practitioners and Small Law Firms: I want to share a bit of our Journey at Naz Law. In our immediate first financial year, we hit 6 digit figures, and now in the following year, we managed to double our income and profits from the first year. While success isn’t just about Money, numbers and revenue are important for our growth and service. This wasn't just because of me, but thanks to our great team and clients. It's important to remember: Treating clients well is key—they'll keep coming back. Being honest and clear with clients is crucial. Although it was extremely challenging, I've never let being a woman, brown, Muslim, or immigrant stop me. What really matters is how hard you work and how smart you’re with the current world. For those running their own law firm or thinking about it: Make some quick but smart decisions! Keep working hard and aim for realistic goals! Surround yourself with a team that shares your vision! Always put your clients first. They are the heart of your business! Just remember, with the right approach and team, you can overcome any challenge and achieve your dreams.

Sasha Berson discusses the common issue of law firm owners feeling unexcited, unchallenged, and unmotivated by their work. He attributes this to the routine nature of practicing law over many years. Berson suggests that to reignite passion and motivation, law firm owners need to shift their focus from practicing law to managing their firms as CEOs. Key points include: 1. **Lack of Excitement:** Many law firm owners feel stuck in their roles, continuing to do what they've always done simply because it's the norm for lawyers. 2. **Need for a Shift:** To rekindle enthusiasm, law firm owners should shift their focus from being practicing lawyers to being the CEOs of their firms. 3. **Benefits of the Shift:** This change can make the work exciting again, provide new challenges, and help maintain motivation over the long term. 4. **Avoiding Tedious Routine:** Practicing law in the same way for decades can become tedious and boring, leading to dissatisfaction. By adopting a CEO mindset and focusing on business growth and management, law firm owners can find renewed excitement and drive in their careers, ultimately leading to greater success and fulfillment.

Does anybody else struggle with balancing practicing law with the business side of running your firm? I love working on cases. I do enjoy certain aspects of the business side of owning a law firm, but not nearly as much as I like being a lawyer. I’ve been reading this excellent book that discusses the importance of getting out of the weeds and focusing on the highest value tasks. The general advice of the book is that the highest value tasks involve leadership and strategic direction (ie working on the business instead of working in the business). But truthfully, I believe my highest value tasks involve working on cases to add value, particularly high value cases. I do think this book has some excellent lessons, though. There are definitely a lot of areas where I can “buyback my time” by paying others to do certain tasks. And I am consistently on the lookout for those things. There's nothing wrong with solely working on the business side as the owner and hiring other lawyers to do all of the casework. I just can't do it myself. I'm always going to be devoting most of my time to being involved in working on cases.
