We’ve had an exciting year, marked by adopting our sustainability strategy. The aim of the strategy is threefold: reducing our carbon footprint, ensuring the well-being of our customers, employees, and partners, and taking active steps to nudge urban dwellers towards more sustainable transport modes. Kristjan-Johannes Konsap's blog post gives you a snapshot of our progress.

Sustainability study for amusement parks: Maurer Rides is a pioneer On the initiative of Jeroen Nijpels, ICAE and his company JNELC, an independent study was conducted on sustainability commitment in the theme park industry. The study analysed the top 20 European theme parks and 16 of the leading ride suppliers. According to the study, Maurer Rides GmbH is the only company among the suppliers that has published a sustainability report and consistently pursues the topic of sustainability. The study makes it clear how important it is to engage intensively with the topic and presents our activities as a good example of what should be implemented. https://lnkd.in/dB7zFnuy

Helping drive out innovation, value & compliance across the public & private healthcare sector logistics with CitySprint Health
As calls to reduce carbon emissions grow its important that organisations understand what SCOPE EMISSIONS are and the part they play in their day-to-day operations. So, what are Scope Emissions? They are categories used to explain various greenhouse gas emissions that stem from organisations. They form the basis for mandatory GHG reporting in the UK (Deloitte)and there are 3 scope emissions to understand. Scope 1 emissions are produced from sources that are owned or controlled directly by an organisation. Eg. emissions from fuel burned in owned or controlled assets such as company vehicles. Scope 2 emissions are made indirectly and come from where the energy it purchases and uses is produced. Eg, emissions formed because of producing electricity for office buildings. Scope 3 emissions are not produced by the company or organisation itself and are also not the result of activities from assets owned or controlled by them. Eg, from buying products from its suppliers, and from its products when customers use them. Knowing what scope emissions are and being able to distinguish between the 3 different types is tricky. Below are two things that you should take into consideration when choosing a sustainable courier service: Checking sustainability credentials – Sustainability credentials enable you to identify which businesses adopt, practice, and communicate their sustainable principles as well as back up these principles with real actions and results. As the UK’s same day courier experts, we understand the concerns that surround reducing the impact of your business operations on the environment. That’s why we’re proud to be a certified carbon neutral company. Environmentally friendly operations – A sustainable courier ensures that their operations are as environmentally friendly as they can be. For some suppliers this involves adopting electric vehicles within their fleet, whilst for others this may involve carbon offsetting. According to the RAC there are now over 239,000 zero-emission battery electric vehicles on UK roads. While electric vehicles have risen in popularity over the last few years, the traditional push bike is still a popular choice of courier transportation. At CitySprint, not only do we have London’s largest courier push bike fleet and a growing fleet of cargo bikes, in 2023 alone, we travelled around 740,000 green miles across 172 green vehicles. While only the largest organisations are required to disclose their Scope 1 & 2 emissions within their annual reports, Scope 3 emissions are still worth paying attention to particularly where your courier suppliers are concerned. The world we operate in is our world too and we share it with the communities and businesses we work alongside. That’s why at CitySprint we have been reducing our environmental footprint for years and are proud to be recognised as a carbon neutral company. #citysprint #healthcare #csr #carbonreduction #scopeemissions

To be a qualified #sustainability professional, contact danielcfng@omni-integra.com for courses and assessment to qualify for grants and loans. Greenhouse gas emissions totaled over 6 million metric tons in 2021, just in the U.S. alone. The transportation sector, specifically, has been the largest contributor for the past seven years, accounting for more than 28.5% of total emissions — with no sign of slowing down. Could biking be the answer to a more sustainable future? Brompton Bicycles, the maker of the iconic folding bike, thinks so. Choosing a bike over a car has major impacts on lowering carbon emissions, not to mention a range of mental and physical health advantages that benefit the rider. The best sustainability talk I’ve ever heard. Sean McMillan from Spirit Yachts Ltd about why you build wooden boats in the UK, running (mostly) on sail and battery power. Charging up your batteries as you’re going along… in a boat that’s lighter than a fibreglass or metal one… so it requires less energy to move. (Sadly well out of budget!) https://lnkd.in/ervKZ2VN
