I just registered for Circle Day 2024 (it’s tomorrow). I've been hired to design more websites lately and am looking forward to advancing my proficiency on the Squarespace platform. As a visual creative who went to art school specifically to avoid math, anyone who knows me understands that coding and scripting have always made my brain smoke. But I have to admit, Squarespace has really changed my perspective on web design. While it offers plenty of simple drag-and-drop tools, what I truly appreciate is how much you can push beyond the basic templates. The more I learn, the more I’m able to use code to elevate the design and make it unique. This year was my first at #CampDigital2024 ✨️ my digital ticket being courtesy of a generous giveaway by DigitalHer (I can't say "I never win anything" anymore 😆🩷). What a fantastic collection of nuggets, as an example, I was extremely inspired by Lou Downe's talk on service design, how broad the impact can truly be, and how users ultimately can choose how they use our service, between the arrows of our diagram. A reminder to think thoroughly and long term, and broader than our service... to consider the negative space... a reminder that as users, our experience is shaped by a connection of many services. I attended this one online so no stage photo but here's one of my notes instead 😅 Conference always amaze me because though much of the time we have heard the information being shared in another context, save technological advancements, it's amazing how as humans we can find new value in existing knowledge, how our diverse experiences and circumstances can make information exchanges newly valuable and invigorating, and I always take something away, even if just a renewed motivation to do my best in the little parcel of the world that I inhabit. #servicedesign #businessanalysis #product
