Evolving and refining one's personal work playbook is imperative for sustained professional success, particularly from the perspective of a business consultant. Your personal work playbook, essentially a set of guidelines, strategies, and approaches you use in your professional life, should evolve and be innovated over time. In essence, my dynamic playbook is not just a strategy—it's a commitment to delivering exceptional consultancy services in a rapidly changing business environment. The ongoing refinement of my personal work playbook is not only a strategic imperative but a commitment to delivering cutting-edge professional guidance. It exemplifies a dedication to professional development, knowledge integration, and the provision of value-driven solutions within the ever-evolving business landscape. Changing your personal work playbook is not a reflection of a lack of work integrity; rather, it demonstrates a commitment to growth, transformation, improvement, and adaptability. Staying true to your work values and principles is crucial, but updating your strategies and approaches ensures that you remain effective and relevant in a constantly evolving professional landscape. It's a proactive measure that reflects a dedication to personal and professional development. #ConsultancyEvolves #ConsultingExcellence #AdvisoryInsights #StrategicConsulting #BusinessAdvisors #ProfessionalConsultancy #JHConsultique

"I try not to consult the problem, I try to consult the person" What does this even mean?🧐 Well, I approach consulting in that way. We are plagued with problems, complexities, time constraints, tasks, and more tasks and endless to-do lists. But- what if, hear me out a bit… What if problems and time constraints weren't the driving force 🚘of our work? What would it feel like to pause and envision the outcome? Here are three ways I try to place those problems in the passenger side of the vehicle and allow my imagination to drive for a moment: 1️⃣Mapping assets and solutions: Of course, we are all dealing with deadlines, but let us do a better job of at least knowing where we want to go, our desires for the outcome, things we've tried, and what we've learned to build on it. 2️⃣Seek creative resources: Often, creativity can be borrowed or recycled from adjacent industries like technology, the medical field, entrepreneurial sectors, and many others. Try pooling and co-curating resources from other sources. 3️⃣Approaching the work with a "human" approach: This one is the simplest one of all. As humans, we need a moment to attend to our human needs. To breathe. To pause. To reflect. To release. Mentally bookmark that‼️

How to Navigate a Disappointed Client When Results Fall Short ? As service providers, there will be instances where, despite our best intentions, we fail to deliver the desired results. In my experience, the most effective approach to this challenging situation is: ▪ Step back and reassess the project, your approach, and the client's expectations. This pause can provide valuable insights. ▪ Have an honest conversation with your client about the challenges you're facing. Often, transparency can lead to collaborative problem-solving. ▪ If possible, offer different strategies or adjusted goals that might better align with the current circumstances. ▪ Revisit the initial objectives and ensure they're achievable given the present context. However, if, after exhausting all options, you find that progress remains stagnant, consider ending the project. It's far better to pause or conclude a project than to persist fruitlessly, potentially damaging both parties' resources and relationship. Ultimately, the ability to recognize when to persist and when to step back is a crucial skill in maintaining a sustainable and reputable business. What are your thoughts ? #lesson #realisation

Want to know what is the best strategic business advice I ever received? A former boss of mine, Frank Wu always said, “If you get hit by a bus tomorrow, we should be able to mourn you and then move on seamlessly in your absence.” While this was a vividly morbid saying, we got the message this wasn’t personal and is the way we should approach the business. 💡My takeaways from this advice are: ✅ The best way I can support the business needs of my organization is to build in redundancies. ✅ The best way I can support my team and my organization is by sharing my knowledge. ✅ No single person on my team should be the gatekeeper of specific information. I might be the main person responsible for a task or project, but I should document and share my process so others can do it in my absence. ✅ Building these systems and processes that multiple people know empowers all members of the team. ✅ Building these systems and processes means I, or any member of my team, can go on vacation and not get pinged for routine stuff because someone else can cover for us. ✅ Building these systems and processes makes training much easier. The heavy lift comes the first time you need to document a system or process, but putting in that effort on the front ends saves you hours of training time on the back end. It also helps you identify any holes in your system or process. ✅ This advice works for any size organization. We worked at a university at the time, but this same advice applies to start ups and mid size organizations, and I've applied it in every job I've held at every type of organization. This advice has stayed with me for more than 10 years and has majorly influenced how I manage my teams. 😊 What is the best strategic business advice you've ever heard? #businessadvice #efficiency #process #operations

Driving Sales & Operational Excellence to Elevate Customer Success | Bridging Sports & Business Leadership | #StrategicGrowth #CustomerSuccess #LeadershipDevelopment #LGBTQ #OpenToWork
Most small business owners I work with are visionaries and executors. They have great ideas, a strong vision for what they desire, and many are good sales people. The most common issue they share with me is: "Kim, I'm great at marketing, but I need help organizing"; or "I know how to do all of this but I now have to hire someone and everything is in my head!" If you don't have your systems, policies and procedures documented, or you haven't laid the proper foundation of legal support via contracts, service agreements, or have insurances in place to protect you, your business could truly be a house of cards. Operations manuals are crucial for your success and here's why you need one: ⚡ Consistency Breeds Excellence: Operations manuals establish standardized procedures, ensuring that tasks are executed consistently across your business. 🤔 Knowledge Preservation: Imagine if a key employee leaves unexpectedly. Without an operations manual, their expertise and processes may leave with them. These manuals safeguard institutional knowledge, aka Intellectual property, serving as a reliable reference for current and future team members. 📈 Scale with Confidence: As your business grows, so does its complexity. Operations manuals provide a roadmap for expansion, enabling seamless scaling without sacrificing quality or coherence. 💡 Empowerment through Clarity: Clear guidelines outlined in operations manuals empower employees to make informed decisions and take ownership of their roles. This clarity fosters autonomy and reduces the need for micromanagement. 🚄 Continuous Improvement: Operations manuals aren't static documents; they evolve with your business. Regular updates and revisions allow you to adapt to changing circumstances, integrate best practices, and refine processes for optimal performance. 💸 When I sold my company in 2020, my operations manual and employee handbook ensured that I went from a 1x valuation of my business based on a client list to 5x full valuation to sell. Don't neglect the administrative part of your business. You can also hire me to help you organize yourself if that is not your area of expertise. Book a call today!
