It's much easier and more effective than asking business people to come and use a tool that the legal or procurement team wants them to use. But this also requires the legal and procurement teams to have good relationships with IT to ensure technology and support is available that can deliver those outcomes. Those departments need to know what legal/procurement teams -and the business - need, and why it's important to the organisation's outcomes. I often hear from legal and procurement teams that IT is doing a review of what systems are going to be used across the organisation and they will wait to hear the results of that review. Don't be bystanders - get involved! If they think you only need Word and Email, to do your own work, that's all you'll get!
