Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about this. This media company has decided to fire it's on-air talent and replace said talent with some type of radio GPT. One of the markets near St Louis (KWIX in Moberly, MO) was affected. They laid off all on-air talent to replace it with an AI DJ. I wonder how this will affect the community not to mention the laid off workers. These radio personalities call all of the community's regional sporting events and air severe weather reports for this rural area. Human DJs have a close connection to the local community. Will an AI DJ have this same personal touch? Will the AI DJ be able to bring the local insights and humor that human DJs are noted for? Now, for the record, I'm not against using AI. We use it all of the time in our business to create efficiencies and eliminate the job duties our associates find burdensome.
