56% of nurses are experiencing burnout, including emotional exhaustion, and 64% say they feel a great deal of stress because of their job (American Nurses Foundation, 2023). Nurse burnout is a crucial issue that threatens the livelihood of current and future humans. Countless studies have been distributed on the prevalence of burnout, but resolution strategies have yet to be implemented effectively. A student, Shreenath, and I are working on identifying employer-based antecedents of nurse burnout. We would appreciate your participation in this survey if you match the following criteria: -Working adult (18 and older) -Work full-time -Spend at least 50% of the time at an inpatient or outpatient facility -Work in the US -Fluent in English -Have an RN, LPN/LVN, or BSN degree Here is the link for the survey: https://lnkd.in/gi4sxJhV All data will be collected anonymously and will assist us in making actionable changes for the betterment of nurses. Almost all nurses develop back pain as they age. Follow me closely. In my journey as a healthcare professional, I’ve witnessed firsthand the tremendous dedication and resilience of nurses. However, I’ve also experienced the heavy toll of burnout that can come with the job. A few years ago, I found myself on the brink. The long hours, emotional strain, and relentless pace of the job started to take their toll. I was deeply committed to my patients, but I was neglecting my well-being. The pressure to perform and the emotional weight of patient care began to overshadow my passion for nursing. During this challenging time, I realized the importance of acknowledging and addressing burnout. Seeking support from colleagues, setting boundaries, and prioritizing self-care became essential steps in my recovery. I learned that taking care of oneself isn’t a luxury but a necessity to continue providing high-quality care. Today, I advocate for open conversations about burnout and mental health in the nursing profession. We must support one another, recognize the signs of burnout, and create environments where self-care is encouraged and facilitated. Let’s work together to build a healthcare culture that values both the physical and emotional well-being of its professionals. Nurse: “How can this be happening to patients? How can this be happening to me? 🔥 Doesn’t anyone care? I am so tired.” Me: “It’s not just exhaustion; A deeper dive reveals moral injury.” Mental health ER boarders Nurse Patient ratio Nurse anger New drugs EHR/EMR Another admission But amidst this chaos, there's a glimmer of hope. Behind the scenes, unseen by many, changes are brewing. I coached an ER Director with years of knowledge and the ability to write. She was struggling with her life. “I need something new but I love my work.” We looked at 8 main areas of her life and she realized that something outside of work needed to change. Then: She loved her work but asked, “Doesn’t anyone else see that this needs to change?” She had new ideas to share but no one could see the need in her work area. At first, she thought there was something wrong with her. No... SHE was open-minded. I suggested that she reach out to the ENA or her state ENA on Linked In. There she could connect meet new people share ideas possibly collaborate. What seems to be exhaustion, could just be our thoughts/work environment draining us. We think we need a nap, but BAM! What we need is to do something different to improve our energy. Have any of you talked with nurses outside your organization? And there is more… Nurses are speaking up. Another International Nurse Day and 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 -> Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, providing compassionate care and advocating for patients on the frontlines. But what about their own well-being?
