Pilates & its benefits, with Pillar Instructor, Gemma Formaston ✨️ Created in the 1920’s, originally named contrology, pilates continues to grow in popularity in modern day. With a deep focus on connecting breath, body and mind, practicing pilates can make you feel more supported, stronger and flexible. One of the biggest benefits is to prevent and rehabilitate injuries. Exercises focus on effectively restoring muscle function, activating deep stabilisers and evening out any imbalances in our muscular and skeletal system. This is particularly important after injuries or anytime our bodies have been under stress or physical changes. With a deep emphasis on core strength, alignment and functional movement patterns, it’s an inclusive workout that can help everyone get the best out of their body. The business of Pilates - its official, Pilates drives engagement. We all know about and celebrate the health & wellbeing benefits of Pilates and maybe we focus less on the commercial benefits of Pilates. So, it was great to hear industry veteran, Dr. Paul Bedford aka the 'Retention Guru' talking recently about the positive impact Reformer Pilates is having on member engagement. Bottom line: People who practice Reformer Pilates are more engaged than those who don't. This transfers into longer term membership. A double win: one for the operator who enjoys the associated revenue and one for the individual who enjoys all the physical, mental and social benefits. Don't take our word for it. Hear what Dr. Paul Bedford has to say by clicking on the image below. #reformerpilates #pilates #pilatesinstructor #businessofpilates #memberengagement #retention

Let's bust some myths! 👉 Pilates is just for women - Nada...if you have a body, Pilates is for you 😉 after all, it was invented by a man. (Joseph Pilates) 👉 Easy: Pilates, when done with the correct technique, can be one of the hardest things you'll ever do. 👉 Pilates vs. yoga. While they have similarities, the movement approach of both these techniques varies. 👉 Flexibility: Then Pilates is exactly what you need in your life! It will enhance your flexibility through elongated movements and stretches. 👉 Pilates isn't a 'real' workout. You are working out every muscle in your body, including the muscles that often get neglected in a 'gym' workout. 👉 Reformer vs mat: With the reformer, you have the resistance of the springs to work with you or against you, which can make it quite challenging for some! 👉 Pilates does more than work your core! While there is a strong emphasis on core work, Pilates is designed to strengthen every muscle in your body! 👉 Pilates is a safe and effective way to rehabilitate injuries. At the same time, it helps rebuild and strengthen to help prevent new ones. #Innerbalancepiyo #pilatesmyths

Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer helping over worked, over stressed business owners to Feel Fit and Look Fabulous through one to one and group sessions online and in my private gym/studio.
Pilates with weights? How does that work. Pilates with weights is one of my favourite classes. We carry out a Pilates mat work class but use light weights for exercising the large muscles at the same time, such a scissors with chest flyes. The weights help to shape and sculpt the muscles while Pilates will help to strengthen and tone the core muscles. Pilates helps improve posture as it strengthens the core muscles, using weights can help with this as we can also use the muscles over the postural muscles to add even more benefits. Using weights helps with coordination as well muscular endurance, arms and legs are often working in different directions at the same time. Focus and concentration are challenged during this class, limbs moving in different directions at the same time leaving no room to think about anything else except what to do next. Light weights need to be used and the performer would need to be experienced, this class is suitable for an experienced performer as core strength would be needed. It would also be suitable for beginners as weights do not have to be used at all. If you would like to find out how this class can help please do get in touch. #pilatesweights #pilatesonzoom #pilatesonline #fitandfabulouspilates

Have you ever wondered why Pilates is so popular? Look no further! With over 20 years of experience in teaching and practicing Pilates, I've got the answers for you. My introduction to Pilates started with a car accident and back/neck pain. After being given six weeks of physio, painkillers, and a leaflet called "Living with Pain," I decided not to 'live' with pain and to try Pilates instead. And thank goodness I did! It worked wonders for me. In my latest article, I explain the main four Ss of Pilates and how they can benefit your body. Whether you're a seasoned Pilates enthusiast or a beginner, there's something for everyone to learn. Check out the full article here and discover why Pilates is so good for your body: https://lnkd.in/eYTSWyxB

Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the core, improving flexibility, and developing balance. It was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Pilates can be done on a mat or using specialized equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair. If you are interested in trying Pilates, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, it is important to find a qualified instructor who can teach you the proper form and technique. Second, Pilates is a low-impact exercise, but it can still be challenging, so it is important to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity of your workouts. Finally, Pilates is a great way to improve your overall fitness and well-being, so give it a try! #fitness #transformationinprogress #findthebalance #workingout
