JOURNEY INTO CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Turning passion into opportunities. When I first stepped into the world of Administration about 5 years ago, I never imagined how much it would shape my professional journey. Over the years, I am kin about getting assigned duties done and i feel motivated to do more whenever my reporting officers commend me which has become frequent over my professional attitude towards work and producing results. It all started with a simple desire to help others, but what I discovered was a deep passion for solving problems and making a real difference in people’s lives. This made me research, take lessons on in-demand skills, tools and softwares that make modern work life smooth, fast and easy. Guess what my true passion is, CUSTOMER SUPPORT! I realized that identifying a problem, proffering solution, customer/client satisfaction, customer/client retention and company/organization’s growth is a walk in the park for me because of my true passion. In customer support, every interaction is an opportunity to learn something new. Whether it’s understanding a customer’s pain point or finding a creative solution to a challenging issue, the experiences garnered over these years has taught me the importance of empathy, patience and clear communication. I have had the privilege of working with amazing teams and learnt from incredible mentors who have helped me grow both personally and professionally. Each day, I strive to provide not just answers, but reassurance and support knowing that a single positive experience can turn a customer/client’s day around. This journey has reinforced my belief that customer support is not just about resolving issues, providing product information, upselling and cross selling; it’s also about building relationships and trust and I am proud to be part of an industry that values connection and continuous improvement. From a young age, I've always been interested in helping people and solving problems. It's always been my passion to make people's lives better, and to create positive experiences for others. That's why I chose to pursue a career in customer support, where I can use my skills and passion to help people every day. One of the most rewarding experiences I've had in this field was when I helped a customer who couldn't download course videos. This experience reminded me of why I love this job, and reinforced my belief that this is indeed my calling. When I chatted with a customer through a live chat support Software, I first took the time to know his concern and understood his frustration. I then used my problem-solving skills to suggest a solution that was simple and easy to implement. I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction when the customer told me that the solution had worked and he we was finally able to access the videos he had purchased. This experience reaffirmed my belief that customer support is more than just providing technical assistance; it's about understanding people's needs and making their lives easier. My skills in active listening, problem-solving, and communication are essential to my success as a customer support specialist. I've learned to listen carefully to customers' issues, and to ask probing questions to get to the root of the problem. Once I understand the issue, I use my problem-solving skills to find a solution that is both effective and easy to implement. Throughout this process, I make sure to communicate clearly and efficiently, so that the customer always feels heard and understood. My skills have been developed through years of experience, as well as through training and education. My work as a customer support specialist is not just about solving problems; it's about helping people and making a difference in their lives. THE LESSONS OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT I'm about to reach the three months milestone as a Customer Support Specialist. I'm not going to lie, every day presents a new challenge, alongside with something new to learn. There's a lot involved, not only on the technical aspect of the information you're giving, but also the way one must adapt their communication skills when it comes to deliver said information. Along these lines comes a validation of a theory I've been developing and seen being shared online: somewhere between concluding high-school/university and entering the job market, one should take roles in customer support or retail for a few months. Why? Besides learning the basics of a job routine and the skills involved, one would also work on their empathy, humanity and communication. There are too many people reaching for a customer support line demanding this world and the next, treating the agent who is trying to help them as the one responsible for whatever happened. And, in some cases, as someone inferior. It's understandable that one can be irritated or frustrated, but letting these emotions take control, clouds the senses, which makes it difficult to perceive that, on the other side, there is someone that is trying their best. And this person can very well be having a bad day, gathering all the energy remaining to be professional and empathic, amidst all the barrage of shouts that are thrown their way. A person with dreams, goals, ambitions and passions. A person like everybody else. There is nothing to lose in being nice. On the contrary, there is a lot to gain, from making someone's day, to ensure a quick and easy solution to what seemed to be a big problem.

As a customer support specialist, it's important to remember that no one is an island. Seeking help from your team leads, peers, and manager is not a sign of weakness, but rather an opportunity for collaboration and fruitful learning. By working together, you can effectively and promptly resolve customer cases and widen your knowledge scope on a daily basis and that goes on to give you mastery on the job. Collaboration helps you see solutions from different perspectives, making you a valuable resource that others will want to eventually work with.
