While retirement may seem like a long way off, time is your biggest ally in helping to reach your goals. Start today, even if it's small. • SAVE NOW, even if you think you don’t need to. Use an IRA AND a high-yield savings account. Got a work bonus? Add it to your emergency fund or savings. • DIVERSIFY your investments. Spreading your money out across multiple accounts and securities is one way to help safeguard your investments. • CAPITALIZE on employer benefits. If you’re lucky enough to have an employer-matching program with your workplace 401(k), contribute enough to get the match. It’s essentially free money. • SET GOALS, regularly. Start small with retirement contributions and try to increase those contributions as your income increases and your debt decreases. Have a side hustle? Use it to boost retirement savings. • DON'T BE AFRAID to pivot. Your income and expenses likely won’t be the same all the time. Some years you may be able to save more for retirement than others.
