"How can live music events be made not only #sensoryfriendly with respect to auditory sensitivities but a pleasant experience for all fans of every genre?" Great insights in this paper article summarizing studies about people with sensory processing sensitivities, barriers and consequences of typical live music venues, and accommodation ideas. "Participants who identified as #neurodivergent commonly attributed their #ConcertExperience to #sensory perceptions and #emotions, whereas those who identified as #neurotypical largely associated their enjoyment with the quality of #sound and #acoustics of the space." "while #SensorySensitivity is prevalent in #neurodiverse populations, neurodivergence is not a requirement to experience sensory overwhelm." "Just as wheelchair users need ramps and elevators to make multi-level spaces usable, highly sensitive individuals require #accommodations to make stressful environments #accessible to them." The proposed #AuditoryAccessibilityCertification checklist is a great idea! Accommodations can include sensory rooms, quiet areas, sensory warnings, hearing protection, sunglasses, wayfinding signage, and individual visual/ privacy/ sound controls. U.S. Green Building Council and International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) should consider adding these checklist features for pilot credits! #REMAStudies | Early Music: The Art of Movement, Art in Motion This year, the aim of the Studies was to draw up a picture of what early music represents for the individuals who practise it - in short, to seek a definition of early music as an experience. Twenty people involved in early music were interviewed. The result is a three-part study that looks at early music from the angle of individual experience, but also typing different paradigms: what are its cornerstones, its perspectives, and its vanishing points? What individual and collective dynamics are at play in the study, research, practice, and appreciation of Early Music? What relationships to time, space, the world, oneself and others does Early Music bring? Read the report > https://lnkd.in/e9kY3M-h #network #europeannetwork #musicnetwork #earlymusic

For music therapists, music is a means - not an end. While it may look as if Laura, one of our music therapists, is teaching piano to Willie in this photo, that's not the point. What she's actually doing is increasing his frequency of on-task behavior, improving his ability to follow directions, and lengthening his attention span. Willie just happens to respond positively to music (and to Laura). That's how the therapeutic relationship is forged. That's why music therapy works! #musictherapy #musictherapyeducation #musictherapyadvocacy

Talent Management Strategist ► Learning and Development Leader ► Organizational Effectiveness ► I help companies align their talent strategy to their business objectives
𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Recently, I attended the Summerfest music festival in Milwaukee. When I was wandering around to 10 plus different stages, I ended up at a stage with an artist I'd never heard of- one of my favorite things about music festivals. Halfway through his set, he asked his band to leave the stage. An odd move for a live show. He explained to the crowd that he had two brand new songs that he had just completed- so new that the band hadn't learned the songs yet. The artist had an audio recording of a house band playing both songs, and proceeded to essentially sing karaoke to his own songs on an empty stage at a live music festival. Was this an odd move or an incredibly brave move? Many times in life, we wait for our work product to be perfect before launching it out to the world. But if we're brave enough to be vulnerable, share where the item is and why, test it and get feedback, it can ultimately land in a better place. My favorite part of the show was after he finished playing both songs and had the audience vote for which should be his next single. I currently have many projects 'in the works' and I'll let this experience serve as a reminder that sometimes it's okay to take a leap of faith and launch things into the world before I feel fully ready. #learning #progress #perfectionism #experimentation
