Last night, after the Kansas Chiefs won the Super Bowl, quarterback Patrick Mahomes said something along the lines of... I'm so grateful for our losses this season because they made us a better team. What I heard... We wouldn't have won this Super Bowl had it not been for getting our butts kicked several times during the season. Losing those games forced us to step up our game. Otherwise, it would have been easy for us to stay in our comfort zone -- doing the same things we did to win the Super Bowl last year. And that wouldn't have gotten us a win in 2024. Losing those games is exactly what we needed to come out on top! This is how I feel about failing the bar exam. Sure, it was a devasting experience at the time. But in the process of going from failing the bar exam to passing it in 3 states... ...I became stronger and more resourceful. • It made me realize I could figure out hard things. No one was going to hand me a passing score. • I became more strategic. I strategized my way to a passing score. • I became a better writer. I leveraged the written portion to pass. • It made me adopt a winning mindset. I learned to get out of self-doubt and overwhelm. • It made me prepare before going into high-stakes situations. And all these things proved to be valuable during the 15 years I worked as a licensed attorney. And now as a business owner. All this to say... Failing the bar exam is a blessing in disguise.
