🌟 Wednesday Wisdom: On the Eve of Recognition 🌟
As we find ourselves just one day away from the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards, a moment of reflection and anticipation fills the air at our firm. It's an honour to stand among the shortlisted, recognized not just in one, but in two distinguished categories: Independent Firm of the Year and Niche Firm of the Year. 🏆
While the excitement is undeniable, today's wisdom revolves around the journey rather than the destination. Being shortlisted alongside some truly fantastic peers is a win in itself. It's a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unique approach we bring to the table every day. 🌱
Winning would be the cherry on top, but it's the inclusion that truly warms our hearts. It reaffirms that what we're doing resonates within our industry and, more importantly, provides value to those we serve. This recognition is a reminder of why we started, why we persist, and why we'll continue to innovate and lead with integrity and passion. 💼
So, as we look forward to tomorrow's announcement, let's remember that success isn't solely measured by trophies or titles, but by the impact we make, the lives we touch, and the community we build and serve. Here's to celebrating every milestone, big or small, and to the continued pursuit of excellence, regardless of the outcome. 🌟
What are you wins this week? No matter how small they are?

It is no secret the admiration I have for you, your personality, kindness, your life path and your professional accomplishments. You know you are my idol, the one I take as my main example, professionally and (specially) personally.
I consider myself extremely lucky to be your son, to be able to follow a great part of your journey, to witness the value others perceive of you, not only within the tax area, but as an all-round good person, one people often look up to (as I do), want to work with and be with.
Probably few people know the hard work, perseverance and dedication behind such an already fulfilled life and career other than we do.
Despite all this awards you still keep on reaching for more, looking for new ways to improve, to grow and to challenge yourself. This is the kind of mentality you taught me and that I try to bring with me every day.
Nevertheless, and knowing you put all this awards into perspective, remaining as humble as you always were, this is not the end nor is it near: there are some more awards to be pursued and I truly believe there is way more gas in your tank to chase them.
There are other awards, the personal and familiar ones, with less projection and not so LinkedIn worthy. I know the value you give them: those you already won them all and, just like the others, you'll keep on winning.
The most important takeaway is: I am besides you, as always, unconditionally, whatever road you choose.
I am proud to inform that I have just been awarded as “Lawyer of the Year”, in the category of Tax, in the 2024 editions of Best Lawyers and Who's Who Legal.
Winning is a verb that is rarely conjugated in the first person singular for the simple reason that few will win alone! At some point, success will have been fueled by others, whether closer or further away.
These recognitions, at the sunset of my career as a lawyer, are mainly a tribute to all those who have accompanied me hand in hand on this journey. And each one of you knows who I'm pointing the finger at without needing to list or expose them.
This recognition and all the others I have received throughout my career, especially as a partner at Garrigues, is for you and is wrapped in my deepest gratitude which is extensive to all my peers in profession who have supported me along the way.

One of the key points the report talks about is the concern over the ''ever increasing time requirement of the directors attributed to increasing responsibilities''.
Food for thought: Is Gender and Skillset diversity the answer to this ?
