To understand how Chinese industries develop China Society of Automotive Engineers (China-SAE) can serve as one example. SAE was founded in 1963 and with 39 branches, tens of thousands of individual members and over a thousand of corporate members, it has become a significant force in the development of China’s automotive industry; focusing on the below six areas:   - Promote scientific and technical progress in the automotive industry - Train automotive talents - Push forward technical exchanges between domestic and international automotive industries - Popularize the knowledge of automotive industry - Spread the culture of automotive industry - Build a home for scientists and engineers   As a huge and dynamic network of companies and individuals from all parts of society it disseminates ideas and concepts at amazing speed and efficiency. Yes, the Chinese government sets industrial goals and targets often supported with massive funds, but at the end of the day, without vast voluntary networks like SAE little concrete would happen.

Our recent Europe Roundtable in Munich was a catalyst for strategic development and deeper connection among our license partners. Having previously hosted similar Roundtables for the US and Germany, this year's European event marked a significant step forward in our collaborative journey. With 19 partners in attendance, each session was an opportunity for everyone to not only showcase their operations and offerings, but also engage in meaningful discussions about opportunities, risks and strategic growth. After each partner had the opportunity to make an individual presentation, our collective discussion on the second day focused on questions such as: Where do license partners want more support? How can license partners support each other? For me, there were several highlights and learnings from these two days, including… 1) Open and honest conversations about challenges that set the stage for targeted improvements and alerted us to areas that require vigilant oversight. 2) Discussions on how to strategically expand and improve our portfolio, taking into account the specific needs and feedback from different regions. 3) Consideration of changing the way decisions referred to current topics are made within the VDA QMC to reflect real needs from different regions and partners rather than focusing only on those from Germany. 4) The possibility of expanding the application of our standards beyond the automotive industry, with sectors such as energy showing interest that could potentially attract a wider customer base. Our discussions not only set the stage for immediate action, but also planted the seeds for long-term strategic changes that promise to keep us at the forefront of quality management and education. As we close this Roundtable, I am filled with anticipation for what the next three years will bring until our next meeting with our European partners.
