Video technology vendors have more opportunities ahead of them for developing impactful, lucrative applications for business users than ever before.
That's the key takeaway from my latest edition of my "Intelligent Video Today" series in which I step away from my customary format of interviewing industry thought leaders to simply provide my thoughts regarding the prospects for "intelligent video" - the group of technologies sitting at the intersection of AI and digital video that are being integrated to develop a new generation of AI-infused video capabilities for the enterprise.
AI makes it easier than ever to manipulate video and to develop applications that can extract insight from video in ways nearly impossible previously. As a result, video now sits on a more level playing field with text, numbers, images and other forms of digital data that organizations have been using for years.
In this video, I make the case that the AI technologies enabling this video flexibility are helping to set the stage for video to become the new linchpin in creating, managing and distributing corporate knowledge. Needless to say, this portends a whole new greenfield of opportunity for video technology vendors and software developers.
Also featured in this video is a newly developed industry framework from IntelliVid Research called the "Intelligent Video Ecosystem" that identifies and categorizes more than 150 technology vendors that are well-positioned to play a key role in the development and delivery of "intelligent video" solutions.
The first 15 minutes of this presentation walk through the basic concepts describing the opportunities afforded by the "Intelligent Video Ecosystem." The second half of the video is more "inside baseball" for the industry, providing my thoughts on where different vendors fit in this "intelligent video" hierarchy.
