The ADA has: ✅ Promoted accessibility in public spaces and buildings ✅ Ensured equal opportunities in employment ✅ Enhanced access to education and transportation ✅ Fostered greater inclusion in all aspects of community life While we celebrate the progress made, we also recognize that much more work needs to be done. Today marks the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a pivotal moment in the movement toward equality and inclusion. Reflecting on this milestone, I'm reminded of why I am so passionate about digital accessibility. Working at Allyant, I've seen firsthand the impact that accessible digital solutions can have. It's more than just compliance; it's about creating spaces where everyone, regardless of ability, can engage fully and independently. This commitment has grown over time as I've learned more about the challenges people face in the digital world. One of the most rewarding aspects has been seeing how adjustments that might seem minor to some—like improving website navigation or enhancing color contrast—can significantly impact the ability of individuals to engage with digital content. These experiences have deepened my understanding and commitment to ensuring that our digital spaces are accessible to all. The ADA has been a crucial step toward a more inclusive society, but our work is far from over. I'm proud to be part of a community that continues to push for greater accessibility and inclusion. Let's celebrate this day by recommitting to breaking down barriers and building a more inclusive future together! #DisabilityPride #ADAAnniversary #Accessibility #DigitalAccessibility

What's inspiring to me about the impact of the #ADA over the last 34 years, is the fact that advances in technology and policy aimed at creating #equity for folks with disabilities end up creating better living, learning, and working conditions for everyone. When we design with the voices & needs of people who have been historically marginalized in mind, we create a better society period. #disabilityindependenceday #inclusion #accessibility #diversityequityinclusion #accessibletech https://lnkd.in/etSU9qtP

34 years is an amazing legacy. The leadership the US has provided sine 1990 has been an invaluable influence to disability rights in countries around the world. But 34 later and what's changed in architectural, interior design, landscaping, urban planning, and industrial design, etc. education to ensure disability inclusion for disabled people and veterans is not only fully aligned with the ADA minimums but teaching beyond minimums, aiming for innovation and excellence? Where are the current and future changes to licensing and manditory post secondary education? Fully and usable disability inclusion won't be successful until building code legislation, education, policy, etc. are aligned to finally ensure accessibility is a fundamental principle to successful, sustainable design. How many more years until that happens? #ADA #ADA34 #legislation #policy #disability #inclusion #accessibility #UniversalDesign #architecture #InteriorDesign #LandscapeArchitecture #UrbanPlanning #design #education #CultureChange #demographics #HumanRights #ethics #equity #DisabilityJustice
