Many of us say, "If I can just reach one person in the room" on the leadership journey. This has been an essential tool to encourage me to continue my journey. After branching out and taking the big step of being a podcast guest and sharing my unique view of leadership, I wondered if any of my teammates watched the podcast. I got my answer from a teammate who shared his thoughts on the podcast with me. After he left my office, it was clear I "reached one person" and inspired them. These types of interactions are essential in our leadership journey and can help us continue the journey. We recently had the privilege of hosting Jeremiah "Jeremi" Medina, MPA on the Bird Talk podcast, and his story is nothing short of inspiring. From navigating the complexities of student government at MSU Denver to advocating for marginalized communities and empowering young voters, Jeremi’s journey is a testament to the power of representation and leadership. As a student, Jeremi played a pivotal role during the student government's shared governance transition, ensuring all students’ voices were represented. Since then, he’s worked with Colorado Young Democrats, served as Chief of Staff for representative Julia Marvin, served on the Harris for President campaign, engaged in public speaking, and championed causes close to his heart, including inclusivity and political engagement. Not to mention, was selected as the youngest delegate representing Colorado at the Democratic National Convention. Becoming a PAL Leader (Peer Assisted Learning Leader) has been a defining milestone in my academic and personal journey. It's not just about earning a badge; it's about assuming a role of responsibility and mentorship within my academic community. Through this experience, I've had the privilege of guiding and supporting my peers on their learning paths, fostering an environment of collaboration and shared growth.
