Swimming lessons are the only lessons that could save your life. It is so important that children learn to swim well...not just 25m. Teach the valuable skills that will save a life, and so that they can get themselves out of danger.

Swimming isn’t just a sport; it’s a critical survival skill! Swimming and water competency should be the First sport you teach your child. Drowning is the single leading cause of death for toddlers in America. Early swim lessons can save lives and prevent drowning!

Training, Problem Solving and Person centred planning so all children and young people with SEND can be included....Director/Co Founder/Inclusive Psychologist at Inclusive Solutions
Try not to give swimming lessons when someone is drowning! Educators are both swimming instructors and life guards - when there is conflict we often need to stop instructing and act like life guards. When someone is drowning it makes no sense to shout at them about how they are moving their legs. When students are upset they cannot hear us. Too often we keep talking, telling them what is wrong with them and how we want them to change and what will happen if they do not. They really need us to get into water and help them back to shallow end safely. When they feel safe they can hear us and we can get back to instructing and help them sort the problem. Thanks to Emma Van der Klift for this metaphor in her work on learning from Hostage Negotiators.
