Another trend that really doesn't need more evidence. If you are considering starting or expanding your fresh food programme, have you also considered the technology required to support it? Offering Order Ahead for fresh food obviously requires a much more sophisticated UI and set of workflows on the front-end, and similarly has much greater requirements for the tech in-store as well. Additionally, there are entirely new operational considerations to manage and support. Hot coffee is the one thing I will always Order Ahead when I'm on the road - and will stop for even if I don't need gas - because I know I can be in and out (with my favourite pick-me-up) in minutes. It seems so obvious. Some chains are doing a great job of it and reaping the benefits....

Love reading about these innovative Retailers leading the charge and blazing a trail for the industry. Most agree digital selling channels are critical for the future success of C-Store businesses, however, it's not that easy getting it right. Not only do you need to select a future-proof platform, our view is you need highly specialised operational and marketing expertise to maximise ROI for these projects as you roll them out.
