What is the ‘golden hour’ in an emergency?
The ‘golden hour’ is trauma or emergency care refers to the first 60 minutes or one hour after a person has experienced trauma or symptoms of some serious illness. This can range from an accident to a fall to symptoms that are indicative of a heart attack or stroke.
If the person is given proper medical attention and treatment during this period, the risk of death or long-term health complications can be significantly reduced.
It is important to understand that the golden hour starts from the very moment that person experiences the trauma or symptoms – thus, it is important to rush them to the ER at the earliest so that medical professionals can diagnose and address the issue in good time.

Outcomes in Two people suffering from the Same Illness & Receiving the Same Treatment: Why is it so?
Possible reasons could be:
1. Those who are fit and healthy prior to the illness recover better and faster,
2. Those with positive frame of mind recover better,
3. Those with strong and better family support recover better,
4. Those who trust and have full faith in the treating team tend to do better.
Can you think of any more reasons?

⚠ ❄ Wintery conditions = busier Emergency Departments.
Prevention is always better than cure, so if you can, avoid unnecessary journeys in such conditions, especially if you have to travel on foot. Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe!
If you have to leave your home, ensure you are dressed warmly, wear sensible shoes with a good grip and take extra care when on slippery surfaces.

Strokes and mini-strokes (TIAs) share many symptoms, making it hard to distinguish between them. Both are medical emergencies, but a TIA is a temporary disruption of blood flow to the brain, while a stroke causes more lasting damage. Key symptoms to watch for include sudden numbness, severe headache, trouble speaking, and dizziness.
If you or someone you know experiences these signs, call 911 immediately. Early intervention is crucial.
