C.A.L.M. is my advice for many situations. Here's how it can be integrated into our daily routines ⬇️ Recently, I was asked, "Joanna, what advice would you give to women developing their careers in the finance industry?" ⭐ My answer: C.A.L.M. ⭐ This mantra is especially fitting during these intense times in Europe, right before Ferragosto - a significant holiday in Italy and a vacation period for many worldwide. Decisions are accelerating and activities need to be tied up neatly before we return in late August. In moments like these, C.A.L.M. is the perfect approach for myself and my team. So, what does C.A.L.M. stand for? 💪 CONFIDENT: Trust in your skill set, focus on your strengths, and pursue your passion. 🗣️ ADVOCATE: Speak up, proactively seek feedback and advice. ⁉️LEARN: Embrace formal and informal learning, and grow from failure. 🤝 MENTOR: Seek mentors, mentor others, and learn continuously in both directions. Alongside this mantra, it is crucial to build a supportive network, take things step by step, and adopt the Italian saying "piano piano," which means "slowly, slowly" or taking a long-term view of your activities. 💡Fun fact: Men are 50% more likely to have a mentor in their career than women. However, women in tech with a mentor are much more likely to advance their careers and take on leadership roles. So, seize the opportunity! 🔵 How does C.A.L.M. resonate with you? Do you agree with this mantra? #inspiration #femaleleadership #career #womenintech

This is a great post - I love this approach! I particularly love that you mentioned speaking up. Although confidence problems are often found across the board, women in particular are much more likely to have difficulty speaking up. I published an article about this exact topic just two days ago, aimed to demonstrate to leaders the importance, and approach the how to, of creating a speak up culture. However, as a coach myself, I also think it could be extremely helpful for those who struggle with speaking up. Like it, Joanna. What resonates with me is Advocate, speak up, proactively seek for feedback and advice. In many situations if I feel stuck in some decision, lost or even not sure I share openly the topic. This immediately opens discussions so I can take the best out of it. Conclusion for me is that we should not feel ashamed if we don’t know what or how to act, opposite - ask openly.

Joanna Pamphilis nice one, for me remains in memories more than piano piano, Tranquilla 😀 in any case most important for me in always to look on bigger picture than my immediate impulse and needs, and ask what is the best I can do in current situation for bigger team and company

Thank you for this post Joanna. 🙏🏻 Through the whirlwind of managing complex projects over the past few months, I've discovered that C.A.L.M. has seamlessly woven itself into the fabric of my daily life. It is a go-to mantra, and also my compass in the chaos. Here’s to keeping our heads up while juggling the complexities of life! 🌟🌟

Mentor part is very often neglected. And yet - most often the most important part. This is how we are wired as human beings. Not everything can be written.

Joanna Pamphilis I particularly like the fact that you mention the importance of Mentoring as a way of both paying it forward while serving as a Mentor as well as benefiting from others' experiences in seeking out Mentors and Sponsors. 🙌

I Love this! You've had a "C.A.L.M." approach for as long as I've known you! You live what you share! Thank you for this, Joanna! 😘

Grazie Joanna per aver condiviso questo post !

Joanna, this is such a powerful and timely post! C.A.L.M. is a fantastic framework, especially in the fast-paced world of finance. As a tech startup focused on patent lawyers, we understand the importance of a clear head and strategic thinking. We believe that building a strong support network, like the one you mentioned, is crucial for success in any field. It's interesting to see the statistics about mentorship; it highlights the need for more support for women in tech. We're committed to empowering professionals, and we think your C.A.L.M. approach aligns perfectly with that goal. How can we help women in finance (and other fields) build the confidence and skills they need to thrive?

Very interesting acronym, thanks for sharing! Especially now, where in Italy we are rushing to close whatever is possible before almost everyone will disappear in August, some anxious feelings might prevail...but C.A.L.M. is a nice mantra, for me, especially focusing on confident. And to keep up also the rest of the year... :)
