Emotionally charged. Fast paced women’s fiction at its best. Front and back laminated gloss cover, artwork and design by @peterryanart, so what's the book all about? ‘The Writer, The Hairdresser and The Nurse' intertwines the struggles and dynamics of three women’s working, family and romantic relationships, focusing on friendship to help get them through. The story is chronologically written in third person narrative. Each chapter is told from the perspectives of best friends…(blurb) The Writer's Story: With declining book sales and critics calling Agnes Robert’s romance writing rigid, a lot depends on her next book. Is the stale relationship with her potentially cheating absent husband Doug to blame? Can she climb back to the bestseller lists with the help of Marcus Oliver, a handsome debut author waiting in the wings? The Hairdresser's Story: Despite infertility impacting their lives, Donna’s marriage to Matthew Hayden is a fairy tale, one her tyrant boss Amanda and unbearable mother-in-law try to destroy often. But when pushed to her absolute limit, can Donna break free of all that holds her back and go into business for herself, setting up her own salon to save her spirit and her clients? The Nurse's Story: Kristy Johns is suffocating with five kids and an Emergency Department roster leaving her feeling frazzled, with no support from her children’s unemployed father Karl, and her troubled sister Nat, free from jail, and wanting back in their lives, can Kristy open her heart to second chances from those who need it most? BOOK LOVERS EMILY HENRY #bookreview To start with, this book is not impressive. Nora (literary agent), Charlie (editor). Their meeting didn’t go well. Libby (most pampered sister of Nora, expecting third baby in months), plans a vacation to Sunshine falls only with Nora; Libby has a motive behind the trip which shocks Nora by the end; Brendan (Libby’s husband) stays at New York looking after two kids. Nora and Charlie meet again at Sunshine falls, they love, they also jointly work on a new book. So, this is the gist of the lengthy book, supposed to be romantic book. Here and there names of books, quotes are included to make readers feel, they are reading Book Lovers book. From starting till end, Libby behaves a overgrown adult child, who is pampered to the core by Nora, after their mum dies. Both Charlie and Nora keep sharing their past, their victim mindset, insecurities and finally think they motivate each other. Too much of description about men, women, their features and high voltage romance in few pages, to remind readers, that they are not reading an emotional book. There is no sudden twist or wow moments as given by some reviews. Half way through, the end is predictable. For all these hype and lengthy descriptions, author could have made a better end to story. If anyone has read Sophie Kinsella ‘s books (Can you keep a secret, I have got your number), then this is no less different. Same type of female character and writing style. More of sister love drama (sissy love they say), too much of boring conversations, sudden new characters, unwanted flashbacks in-between. Not a happy read. Not worth the time. #booklovers #read #readingcommunity #vacation #love

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson First in the Good Girl Guide series, this book lore you into a suspenseful dramatic turn of events initially, but as you hurry to the next pages, you will find your indulgence scattering a bit. No doubt the book manages to deliver what it promises, a murder mystery, an excellent plot, with an unpredictable culprit by the end; but still the pace with which I read this part, I am not so sure about the thrill and buzz I expected to experience. Pippa Fitz-Amobi is a teenager who is digging into a five-year-old case of murder- “Andie Bell murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh, who then died by suicide.” As she unraveled the details, I was as shocked as her, but then again, the number of crime movies I have watched, all came to me as something that was meant to happen. Pip’s, her parents, and Ravi’s characters are no doubt very alluring, you couldn’t help but fall in love with them. For Indian readers or new readers, I have this special feedback about the book, read it with a mindset that it’s American, or learn about American culture & relationships before indulging yourself in this story. These kinds of stories are meant to focus on the mystery part but sadly the stories remain stuck longer than they are supposed to, for the reason of how these incidents are happening out of books in our lives, how people are dreaming beyond the dreams of avarice, how teenagers are getting consumed by the money & drugs, how broken families are encoding trauma in their children, that they keep decoding throughout their lives. For me, this part was a bit slower than I expected yet I picked the second part immediately. #agoodgirlguidetomurder #hollyjackson #goodgirlguide #murdermystery #bookreview #booksoflinkedin #famousbooks #americanbooks #murder #thrillerbooks #thriller #bookseries #linkedinwriters #hollyjackson #youngadult #yareads #electricmonkey #hypedbooks

"Probably entirely like other people. Not well." That was author Gina Martin's response when asked how she copes when she gets trolled. As an activist it happens to her a lot, sometimes to the point where she has had to get the police involved. Together (with The Pound Project) we are putting out her new book: To Hate and Love Men. We've always understood that the title may well be provocative, and perhaps naively hoped it would be taken as a starting gun for people to engage with the substance of the piece. But as a publisher I wasn't prepared for some of the aggression we've received simply for promoting a book/project that asks challenging questions and encourages debate in good faith. Being honest, I'm not sure how Gina stays the course with her work - especially when so much of the vitriol and anger is coming from people who haven't read the book, and probably don't intend to. It leaves us with an interesting dilemma. What do you do? Do you reply? Do you engage? Do you report? Do you leave them to it? Can you ever change anyone's mind? I'm interested in the psychology of internet/social dispute and disruption, and what that tells us about how people are feeling and what they are thinking. But at what cost? For anyone interested in learning more about the project, the link is in the comments. #books #reading #publishing #business #debate

Here at the Sandy household, we're awaiting Baby No. 2 any day now. With a return to newborn life looming, I pivoted my reading habit toward some of my all-time favorite novels: books that I love but haven't read in a few years, a good bedrock in times of change. I started with Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. Next up is A Fan's Notes by Frederick Exley. A Fan's Notes is beautiful, funny, harrowing, a vicious account of alcoholism and obsession and delusions of grandeur. If you're a writer in any way, you can understand the appeal. Though the narrator is teetering on the very fringes of society, he's basically just an ordinary guy trying to find meaning and purpose in his life. The final third of the book is where some truly bizarre characters enter the picture, and I can't wait to get back to that point. Here's one writing lesson gleaned from Exley: Be consistent with your voice, but understand that it's just that, a voice. You can inhabit a new voice for the page; it doesn't need to be how you, the author, sees the world. Your narrator is distinct from you (even though, in this case, Exley's work is essentially memoir... the voice in A Fan's Notes reveals a lot about who the narrator is). This is very important, perhaps even more so when you get into nonfiction.

My daily morning routine is exercise with a side of self improvement in the form of audio books 📚 Okay let’s be real, I miss days sometimes BUT I do my best to make some progress on audio book studies daily. The month of May was stellar. Million Dollar Habits - #briantracy This was a great one. I have listened to a lot of these “habit” books, think James Clear, et al. This one follows some of the same trends but the author put a lot of his own takes and personal stories on the key fundamentals. It was pretty thought provoking and definitely gave me a boost. The author is the VO actor so at times it was a little rough around the edges. He has cute old grandpa giving advice to the younger generation vibes. And the advice was ✨ chefs kiss ✨ Build an Empire: How to Have It All - Elena Cardone This one has been on my list for well over six months! So glad i finally got around to listening to it. First reaction, Elena’s book was better than all the Grant books I have listened to combined. No offense Grant Cardone but it is what it is. 🤷🏾♀️ Litstening to the back ground story of the woman standing beside/next to/in front of (IYKYK) the THE Grant Cardone explains so much. I hope to read (see more books like this from the powerful women that are lifting up their men and helping create a better society. It only leaves me with one question: When is the next one coming out girl?! Looking forward to my next month of audio books! Comment below with any books you want to recommend! ⬇️ #lightreading #reading #recommendations #booklist #mayisover #selfimprovement #growthmindset #newmonth #newmonthnewgoals

Want to see how far you've come? Then write a book! Friday Bridge was born from a flippant comment, and as I started writing it, I knew I had to own my own story - before others from my past did. You see, I always knew I would be successful, to the point of buying myself a suit jacket at the age of 14 and then using one of my mum's old cheque books to write myself big cheques... well, what I thought back then were big cheques! I also knew that with some of the people I had met on my journey, I needed to own my truth before they did. Recording Friday Bridge these past two days for the audio book version has brought up a LOT of raw emotions and memories of being told by my mother on a regular basis, "I may love you as a mother, but I don't like you very much". Childhood bullying, isolation, racism, my hedonistic raving days and meeting and marrying 'a bloody foreigner' who just happened to be an Arab and was going to 'either lock me in a cupboard and beat me senseless' or be 'a rich oil baron' (which would have been ok, apparently!) Being reminded of how much I have always loved books, how much I have overcome, and just what a stubborn ar$e I am has made me smile to myself, and has also lit a fire under my aforementioned stubborn ar$e, Because if I have gone on to achieve all I have without the knowledge, support and experience I now have, then what else is possible!? Excited much! 😀 💃 Writing a book is a BIG journey, and one that is so rewarding, especially when you receive reviews such as the one in the image below. If you have not yet written your story, but have been wanting to, then send me a DM and let's get you present to all your have overcome, owning your truth before someone else owns it instead, and being the gift of inspiration others need to read! It's a powerful process, and you are safe with me. I promise. Ciao for now mi LinkedIn familia, and have a fabulous day ahead! #authorcoaching #shareyourstory #writethedamnbook #time2callDawn #getpublished #ownyourtruth #intelligentactivism
