Proud to see our Rochester site doing such great work to get youngsters interested in STEM from a young age, and keep the momentum going with opportunities in early careers! The world needs science, maths, technology and engineering to solve some of the big challenges we face, and it’s important we invest in the people who’ll make that possible.

It was wonderful to be part of this bike build. Showing our support to military families is integral to supporting the servicemen and -women who protect us. Their partners, children and parents deserve our appreciation, too!

This week I had the opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and take some time with my colleagues in the Electronic Systems Communications team in New Hampshire. Being just over 6 months into this role, it was immeasurably valuable on so many fronts… 🤝 Meeting colleagues in the flesh whom I’d previously only had emailed, and at most had video calls with 💜 Building that “real world” sense of #team, and experiencing the #culture of this wonderful team 🎙️ An opportunity to be brave, step up to the mic, and take part in an excellent session with Terri Trespicio and Jenn Lederer on creative #storytelling (I’m pictured here with a slightly doubtful/nervous facial expression! Thank you Dan Palmer for capturing that moment!) 🧠 Hearing some excellent thought leaders on the topics of #leadership, #CommsTrends, #creativity and #connection 🧭 And at the heart of everything we do, our missions to Protect Those who Protect Us, and Innovate for Those who Move the World. Building the bikes for the children of military families based in the area, brought home to me how for every person serving in the military, there’s a family that’s committed to serving, too - making sacrifices in their own ways. While there’s so much to digest - I know I’ll be reflecting more in the days to come - the overall impact it’s had on me is a feeling of connection, which is so vital for a high-performing team.

It was wonderful to visit our charity partner RBLI (Royal British Legion Industries) today with Dan Palmer and Jade Bushell and colleagues from BAE Systems, to see some of the amazing work being done there. The RBLI provides vital support to military veterans, people with disabilities and people who are unemployed. Thank you to James Fletcher who gave us a tour of the RBLI factory, which produces signs, timber, print products and more, and provides vital employment to veterans and people who are disabled. We also got to see their Centenary Village, their ambitious new development for vulnerable veterans which #BAESystems is a sponsor of. #LifeatBAESystems
