One new issue from the ’24 campaign is going to emerge as a big economic and investment opportunity in the years to come: The use of federal lands. Feds own 28 percent of US territory, worth many trillions, and they’re not doing much with it. Indeed, the general plan is to keep it as a green preserve. Yet in the 10/1 debate, @JDVance was asked about @realDonaldTrump’s repeated suggestion of using federal land for housing and also for energy production. Vance affirmed the idea, citing need to increase housing supply and added, “Drill, Baby Drill.” Last year, @SenLummis, @SenJohnBarrosso of WY, and @SenMikeLee offered the HOUSES Act, and that's just the beginning. Whatever happens this November, and January, the idea of using federal lands is loose—because people want the living space, and the wealth, and the blue dots won't be able to stop the red zones from using it. A January 2025 poll by Patriot Polling indicates that 57.3% of Greenlandic respondents support the idea of Greenland joining the U.S., while 37.4% oppose it. However, Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte B. Egede, has expressed that the majority of Greenlanders do not wish to become American citizens. He emphasized that Greenland belongs to its people and advocates for the territory’s independence. U.S. Public Opinion In contrast, a Suffolk University poll from January 2025 reveals that approximately 53% of U.S. residents oppose the idea of annexing Greenland, while 40% support it. Geopolitical Context The renewed interest in Greenland’s status follows President-elect Donald Trump’s public statements about acquiring the territory, citing its strategic location and natural resources. This has led to mixed reactions from both Greenlandic and Danish officials, with concerns about sovereignty and self-determination at the forefront.
