As the world is slowly returning to normal, many companies are asking their employees to return to the office. While some people are excited to be back in the office, others may feel anxious or uncertain about the transition. 3 of my meetings this week (with clients across a range of industries) have been with organisations looking to go fully on-site again, despite the push back from both candidates and recruiters. However, I've also had a number of conversations recently with a number of other hiring managers who are now reverting back to more remote working to attract the best talent. Keen to hear people's thoughts, how are you seeing the market at the moment? #WorkplaceSafety #EmployeeWellness #ReedTechnology

What is the impact of Hybrid Work Style on job applications? – a 15-20% surge. Reviewing our internal data from the past 12 months reveals a compelling trend: companies offering a hybrid work style experience a 15-20% increase in job applications. What's even more interesting is the notable 40% surge in applications when companies allow a 3-day work-from-home option compared to a 2-day arrangement. Even though trains are full and most are working mainly from the office, the data shows the growing appeal of flexibility, making the work-from-home option a key factor for job seekers. Food for thought for hiring managers, to attract more candidates. #hiringtips #attractingtalent #hybridwork

Working with FMCG companies to secure exceptionally talented professionals across Sales, Marketing, NPD and Supply Chain / Recruitment Director & co - owner of SmithCarey consultancy.
Home-based roles are here to stay! 🏡 In the ever-evolving world of work, the shift towards home-based roles has become a permanent fixture. As we navigate through 2024, it's clear that FMCG companies need to adapt or risk missing out on top talent. The flexibility and work-life balance offered by remote working are no longer just perks but expectations. For businesses, this means rethinking traditional office setups and investing in robust digital infrastructure. It's about creating a culture that supports remote work, ensuring employees feel connected and valued, even from afar. This shift isn't just about technology; it's about trust and empowerment. Companies that embrace this change are seeing increased productivity and higher employee satisfaction. At SmithCarey, we understand the importance of adapting to these changes. Our recruitment strategies are tailored to identify candidates who thrive in remote environments, ensuring our clients have access to the best talent available. Remote/hybrid work has provided a sense of work-life balance and ownership of personal time management which I think, contributes positively towards the increase of productivity. Having caught a glimpse of that, no one wants to go back to the way it used to be especially when in this modern world, many jobs can be done remotely and just as well. Alternatively, in-office time can be so equally beneficial and important to productivity not only because of needed in person collaboration (which in many cases is unmatched by hybrid/remote collaboration: think ideation and design sessions), but also because of needed in-person humanization. I am for empowering and allowing both with complete and forever-adapting flexibility as needed.
It's becoming increasingly rare to find candidates who work in the office five days a week. In fact, most of the searches I conduct are for remote or hybrid positions. This trend is consistent with national searches and has become an absolute factor for attracting candidates' interest. Not only does offering remote or hybrid work options attract top talent, it also gives clients a distinct advantage in attracting a wider range of great candidates.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the landscape of working has taken a significant shift. The traditional office-based model has given way to a more flexible and dynamic approach: hybrid working. The Legal sector was traditionally office based pre-pandemic and we’ve seen a huge change over the last few years as firms have implemented a range of hybrid working models. However, we are definitely starting to see a shift back towards office based working which is met with a mixed response from candidates. As a legal recruiter, I get an insight into how the hybrid-working model benefits both potential candidates, and clients with the main benefits including: ⭐ Flexibility ⭐ Wider talent pool ⭐ Increased productivity ⭐ Talent attraction and retention ⭐ Increased work/life balance ⭐ Cost savings For many candidates, hybrid working is now a non negotiable in their job search and we’re seeing this being a key factor in whether a candidate even agrees to send their CV to a firm. Does your employer or organisation offer hybrid or fully remote working? Would you choose not to apply to a role because of a lack of hybrid working? #ReedLegal #HybridWorking #Employer #EmployeeWellbeing Zoe MacMillan Thomas B.

Q. What’s the REAL cost of a forced return to office? A. The impact on retention and attraction. Here’s two job ads, similar role. 🤦♀️ One shackled to a physical location, limping along with a pitiful 19 applications in 24 hours. 😎 The other? Embracing remote work, boasting a staggering 2,400+ applications in the same timeframe. 💥 It's not rocket science; Remote work isn't just a perk; it's a necessity (where possible) in today's competitive landscape. By stubbornly sticking to outdated norms, you're waving goodbye to top talent flocking to remote-friendly opportunities. The cost will come in the longer term, when: - A lack of diversity stagnates innovation - The gender pay gap widens - Business is lost due to unfilled vacancies - Competitors take your top talent - Salaries spiral in order to keep employees Is anyone surprised by the vast difference in applications? #flexibleworking #remoteworking #HR #EDI #talent

A white flag has risen from the employers’ side to put an end to the struggle of getting employees back at the office on a full-time basis. Recent The Conference Board survey implies — 3.8% of US Company Chiefs suggest employees to appear full-time at the office in 2024. Moreover, Chief Financial Officers (about 66.7%) want a hybrid work practice to be formalized this year at their company. Observing little impact on Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's productivity this month, Economists (at Goldman Sachs) can claim remote work to be “the most persistent economic legacy of the pandemic”. At-office employees have turned Tuesdays to Thursdays, 'core weeks policy’ of the company, a success — Mark Smucker (CEO The J.M. Smucker Co.) As Hybrid work gets its due share in the job market, it’s the best time of the year for remote workers to return to the office.
