This is a failure in communication to zoo guests. I'm not sure if they are using the sign to advertise sponsors or if Aldi is in fact, the main event. (Seen at the Columbus, Ohio Zoo) I assumed the pavilion was a place for guests to see special zoo shows. But with a quick Google search, the answer becomes clear. The pavilion is rented out for corporate parties and conferences. I'm still perplexed at how this is communicated. It shows how often our assumptions are wrong. Ask questions. Think critically. Ask more questions. Assumptions in communication are often the root cause of conflict. I know this because I've assumed and felt conflict where it didn't need to exist. I still assume things. But now I ask a lot more questions. #curiosity #perspective #communication #growthmindset #lifelonglearning

I position entrepreneurs, thought leaders, executives and authors as "go-to" experts in their fields, using media visibility to strategically build credibility, authority, impact & income.
Often, small business owners do not realize that PR is a tool they can use to help spread the word LOCALLY about their business. The misconception is that PR is super expensive and reserved only for those with deep pockets. But the truth is, nothing quite moves the needle for a small business like a spot on their local news station. Talk about instant BUZZ and an influx of traffic to your storefront. So, whether it is an upcoming move, an expansion, or a community event - locking arms with the right publicist can make the world of difference. Limited scope publicity shouldn't break the bank either. From one small business owner to another, I am super grateful for this collaborative project with Amber Krasinski. She has her strengths and I have mine...and to be honest, I'm floored by the amount of press we've garnered together in the Boston area for a super deserving client that does great things in the community. Curious what local PR might do for your small business? Comment MEDIA MAGIC and let's start the conversation.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 ______________________________________ Episode 2️⃣6️⃣ If you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quiet lately, it’s because I’ve been deep in the middle of planning the NACOS Southeast Zonal Convention. Let me tell you, event planning is no joke! 🙈 You know that feeling when you’re trying to get someone’s attention—without sounding too pushy or unprofessional? Well, that’s me right now with sponsors. It’s like trying to figure out what’s on someone’s mind while tiptoeing around the question. 😅 And here’s the thing I’ve learned: Always have a Plan B (or maybe even a Plan C!) because, trust me, things can easily go off track. But having those backup plans in place? It keeps the panic at bay when stuff goes sideways. It’s been a wild ride, but I’m still super pumped for what’s coming up. Oh, and here’s something exciting—I’ll be visiting schools in the Southeast soon to spread the word about the event. 🙌 Who’s ready for some school tour photos? 📸 ______________________________________ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐈 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐨. We're about 3 weeks away from our Drive-In Mega-Mixer on Saturday, May 18 from 12-3 PM. Since it's kind of an unconventional networking event, I've been getting a lot of questions! I will do my best to address them here: What is the mega-mixer? We are envisioning it as like a combination of business expo & trunk or treat. Local businesses can set up tables by their car and give out information and swag while connecting with other businesses! How do I sign up? It's FREE to sign up, we just request that you register ahead of time so we can make sure we have room for everyone. We are keeping about half the lot open for parking so the public can attend. The registration link is here: https://lnkd.in/eppBvN5C How much space will I have? You will get one parking space per business/organization, and your table & materials must fit within that space. You will not have access to a power hookup. Tents are OK as long as they fit within the parking space. When should I arrive? Businesses can arrive any time between 11AM and 12PM to set up their spaces. We will open to the public at 12PM. I don't have a business, but I'm running a political campaign. Can I set up a space? No, this event is intended to promote and elevate local businesses in our community and the surrounding areas. We do not permit signage or displays promoting political campaigns. Can I bring my kids and pets? Of course! This event is open to everyone. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after. Will there be food? Yes! We will have our snack bar open throughout the event with our full menu of tasty treats and meal options for purchase. What if it rains? This event will be held rain or shine! I hope this helps! If you have a question that I did not answer, please let me know.

Principal & Executive Producer @ SUBLIMITY | Champion & Practitioner of Audience Enchantment Cycle, Imagination Marketing
~~ CREATIVE THOUGHT PARTNERS ARE CRUCIAL ~~ Discerning creativity is a game-changing strategic advantage. In fact, ad legend Dave Trott is fond of saying "Creativity may well be the last legal unfair competitive advantage we can take to run over the competition." That's right. Sometimes, to do your most imaginative work, you need a great, creative thought partner. For me, Jonathan Sanborn is one of the best. I spent Monday and Tuesday holed up with him in Wilmington NC working on the beginnings of a super-secret-and-oh-so-awesome project that a SUBLIMITY client is going to absolutely love. And - most importantly - their audience is going to love it too. We need to apply discerning creativity to audience experiences in a big way. And if working on it with a creative thought partner means constant belly laughs till your gut hurts, then all the better! Jonathan also generously gave his time to our spring Wonder Camp in Charleston SC, and he provided tremendously important insights for our global clients from his years living and working overseas. Join us at our next Wonder Camp, Oct 16-17 in glorious Carefree AZ and develop killer creative concepts for your own organization. Creating amazing experiences that enchant new audiences and reenchant current audiences is the crucially strategic skill we all need to be learning now. That's why we created Wonder Camp. Sign up link is in the first comment - see you there! ~~~~~~ #humancentered #reenchantment #experiencedevelopment #nonprofitmarketing

It's Facepalm Friday...a showcase of those not-so-hypothetical happenings that cause grief for race directors who aren't working with Treat PR. Imagine this... You hired the big local PR firm to help you raise awareness for your event. At the first meeting, you heard their team say things like, “I only run if something’s chasing me!” or “I finished a 5K marathon once.” 👀 👀 👀 Eeeek, am I right? Throughout the engagement, you felt like they never really understood you or your participants. You had to explain basic things about the sport over and over. Results were generated, but they lacked an authentic connection to the running community. They just didn't "get it." 🤦♀️ Treat PR becomes your local firm, wherever you are. Even better, we bring our authentic love of running and deep knowledge of the industry to the table. It's why we're so freaking great at what we do. We bring lessons from some of the largest events in the U.S. to you in your community, and we learn what makes where you run such a spectacular spot! We build deep connections with your local reporters because local reporters - regardless of location - are looking for the same things...rich stories that show why your city is special. We are the experts in finding those stories that are woven into your event and making sure they get noticed. From major markets like Los Angeles to communities like Champaign-Urbana, we're exceeding goals left and right from our home offices here in SoCal. Will your event's goals be the next ones that we blow out of the water? I sure hope so. 😁

When it's not part of your normal routine, media pitching can feel daunting, but we all know that being visible is part of growing your business. So, we've got to find ways to take the ick out of PR. To help the process, I broke it down into three simple concepts: Research, Respect and Resonate. These three R’s of pitching build credibility and foster a positive relationship with media outlets in the area, leading to top-tier media wins and increased awareness. Dig in more to each of these three concepts in this week’s blog:
