𝐃𝐔𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐇 (𝐘𝐄𝐓)? 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐘, 𝐃𝐔𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔! Great news for South African professionals who want to immigrate and work in the Netherlands and are proficient in English (but not so much Dutch – yet!) – English in the workplace is becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands! Dutch media reports that several major retail chains in the Netherlands, including Zeeman, Hema, Jumbo, Plus, Lidl, Aldi, and Albert Heijn, are enthusiastic about hiring English-speaking workers, and are even relaxing Dutch language requirements to accommodate the modern and diverse makeup of Dutch society. This shift in recruitment policies is primarily driven by the intense competition for talent in the Dutch job market. This change has also proven to be a pragmatic solution to swiftly address labour shortages and fill job vacancies. These retail giants have recognised the importance of reflecting the diverse society they serve, especially in major Dutch cities with a significant non-Dutch-speaking customer base. Many corporate companies in the Netherlands have also been employing English-speaking nationals, especially in international and multinational organisations. The Netherlands also has a thriving expat community, and English is widely spoken, therefore making it relatively easy for English-speaking nationals to find employment. That being said, Dutch will remain the main requirement for the majority of vacancies in the country, especially in customer-facing services roles, and we highly recommend that you make an effort to learn Dutch to ensure your integration into your community and workplace has longevity. In conclusion, there are plenty of opportunities for South Africans who don’t speak Dutch (yet) to secure work in the Netherlands. Here are a few tips on how you can prepare from your side: https://lnkd.in/dkx7W_rf...
