"Aaron has showed great work ethic which is hard to find these days. I have told him we really appreciate his work ethic. He is always on time has a great attitude works great with coworkers." Sid, that view seems pretty harsh and lonely. While it's smart to be careful at work, completely shutting everyone out might not be the best way to go. Sure, some coworkers might try to take advantage, but not everyone is like that. Having work friends can actually make your job more enjoyable and even help your career. The key is finding a balance - be friendly, but also set healthy boundaries. It's good to focus on your own goals, but teamwork is often important too. Maybe instead of "I, me, myself," we could think about "professionalism, respect, and balance." Every workplace is different, and 16 years is a lot of experience. But there might be more positive ways to approach work relationships that don't leave you feeling so alone.
