Job Title.... Ego or Business Critical?? Job titles are often seen as a central part of an employment package, and for many people, they are a way to show seniority, experience, and progress in their careers. However I see so much inconsistency across different, industries, sectors and sizes of business's And have known people who won't apply for a job, take an interview or accept a job if the job title is wrong. For me there are 2 things that are more important than a Job title are: ➡ The salary and wider package ➡Responsibilities & duties These are the two things in my opinion that will project you forward in your career not just a title. That being said its not lost on me that job titles have a value. They help with corporate structure and throw weight when negotiating. But you have to ask yourself – would you rather seem successful? Or would you rather be successful? Attention all job seekers! A recent experience has highlighted the importance of transparency during the hiring process. As a candidate for an Accountant role, I was informed during the interview that I was a great fit for the position. However, after almost two weeks of waiting, and following up, I received an email stating that they had decided to move forward with another candidate. At this time, I just need to take a break 😩 from the jobsearch process. I just don't understand how this keeps happening to not just me but fellow jobseekers. While I understand that companies have the right to choose the candidate that best fits their needs, it's important for companies to be transparent during the process. Lack of communication and timely updates can lead to frustration and disappointment for the candidates. Temp jobs... Do they add value to someone’s CV if they are trying to gain experience? Or should you wait to find the perfect permanent role? Having almost always recruited for both permanent and temporary positions, I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a temporary role as a negative. However, I have had conversations with candidates recently where they were hesitant about the offer of a temporary or interim position – even though they had little or no experience on their CV. Surely the opportunity to gain experience, however basic, in a workplace situation trumps continuing to search for that potentially illusive permanent role. I’ve seen so many situations throughout my experience where: ✔ Candidates add so much value that they’re offered a permanent position. ✔ They finish that role and walk straight into the originally desired permanent role (because they now have experience).   ✔ Putting it on your CV will get you interviews. ✔ It gives you real-life examples to give in an interview situation. ✔ It can help you define what you’re actually looking for. ✔And in many cases give you a great reference or recommendation. There will of course always be extenuating circumstances but I’m sure there are many people in my network who have had very successful careers which stemmed from an opportunity that happened to be “temporary”. The truth is, everyone isn’t hiring, but they are pretending to be. Companies are posting roles and even interviewing candidates with hiring freezes in place. Recruiters and hiring managers are giving hope when they don’t have the budget to actually fill a role and they are ghosting when candidates seek an explanation. It’s completely unethical and ruining the reputations of otherwise well-respected companies.

There is a need to adjust the hiring system globally . A system should be design to easily allow connections between employers and applicant ,this should be seamlessly and easy to navigate . With this solution , everyone will be hiring and people will get hired .

The answer is obvious. It's not that companies aren't hiring. It's not that people in the US don't want to work. It's not even that the interview process is too complicated. In today's late stage and recession crippled capitalistic landscape, there is so little remaining room for economic/profit expansion that companies have to cut costs to generate higher profits because their leadership lack the talent, creativity, (and to be fair) the opportunity itself to increase revenue. As wealthy shareholders and board members demand yet more growth that physically cannot continue, the only option is to cut costs. That's why we're seeing layoffs even at profitable companies, a truly dystopian signal of the real status of the economy. Again, it's not that companies aren't hiring. It's not that people will not work. It's that companies are not willing and (to be fair again) not able to pay their workers a fair wage (and in many cases even a living wage) while still growing profit. The margins do not exist anymore. In that new reality companies will abuse employees, outsource jobs, and layoff workers. The people in charge of these systems (companies, funds, etc.) would rather your families starve than miss out on a performance bonus.
