To date, I haven't seen any comments from writers or poets in this community about this poem. I would appreciate some constructive criticism about this poem. Mamacita Oh! My damsel love, the one in whom I find my courage, Always appreciative of her, our bond a sacred heritage. The ancient man’s wife, submissive in all sight, Yet, lack of equality casts shadows on our plight. Marriage, a partnership meant for aiding, But misinterpretations of Feminism leave hearts debating. I am a Feminist, yet much is left to teach, To twenty-first century wives, the lessons within reach. In this modern age, husband’s coin is shared, Both husband and wife, in unity paired. But wife’s earnings belong solely to her, While husband’s burden is twice to endure. Responsibilities, the weight upon man’s back, Two families to cater for, a daunting track. Yet, oh! Mamacita, why doubt my worth? I was a man when I married you, since my birth.” “I am the husband” Segun said, Though lacking today, let not my courage be misled. In public, have my back, cover me with pride, In our journey together, let love be our guide. For in my heart, no regret shall ever dwell, Nor hinder my wife’s progress, I wish her well.
