Keep up the good work Mike. I have a small high quality general contracting firm that does technologically complex facilities, hospitals, labs, etc. I regularly ask for specific tradesmen who happen to be minorities and/or females from my sunbcontractors. I ask for them specifically because they are decent, honorable, hardworking and extremely capable. I believe that King Solomon stated it perfectly in Proverbs 12:29 “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people. “ NIV Version I regularly quote Solomon to tradesmen on my job sites. I also point out the workers whom I believe fit the mold of working with integrity to them, their peers and also to their bosses. In my opinion, the workers I request will always have jobs because, if the company they work for doesn’t value their craftsmanship their reputation for excellence will spread throughout the industry. I’ve referred that type of worker to other companies in the past. I recently posted this on Mike Roe’s FB page.

Vice President @ Regal Security | MBA Mini, Sales Chairman of the Board - Security Guard Association of Ontario (SGAO)
Ok, you can choose to watch the entirety of this video, its a long one, but the question is who’s right? This is an example of losing situational awareness, clearly the security guards have not taken any type of de-escalation training, or if they did, few of them were asleep during that portion of the program with they spoke about antagonism. The question posed above is really irrelevant, what is relevant is that the most of the guards completely lose their composure, and at some point, they are simply yelling at each other. Nobody is right… nobody… and I would argue the guards that deshielded their batons, each one of them need time to be retrained. Any comments agreeing with or arguing against the above is welcome. Just keep it relevant and on point. Not a great day in the security guards working careers *note* here is what I love, the industry itself is critical of the actions, we all know that we have clean actors out there, but the dirty actors are largely left alone, so lets start the conversation again... What should be done??? to make us a better industry related to use of force issues.

🚍 Chief Manufacturing Officer Paul S. Lavoie and the team at CBIA set out on this bus tour of Connecticut to show the immense value (and cool factor) of manufacturing everything from submarines and jet engines to PEZ candy right here in the Nutmeg State. It’s essential that residents, businesses, and policymakers understand what manufacturing offers Connecticut. Not only does it drive 13% of CT's GDP, but it also provides good-paying, rewarding careers—careers that help keep innovation and craftsmanship thriving. That's a strong mark of who we are and will continue to be as a state. As we look to the future, it’s equally important to inspire a new generation of workers to explore these exciting opportunities. Manufacturing is evolving with cutting-edge technology and offering career paths. Together, we can ensure Connecticut remains a leader in making some of the world’s most important and iconic products. #MakeItHere #Connnecticut #Manufacturing #Candy #Aersopace #Submarine #Business #Jobs #WorkforceDevelopment | Connecticut Office of Manufacturing

There comes a time when we all make mistakes as humans. In our academy, if a recruit makes a mistake and the class doesn't step up to help that recruit beforehand, they all fail as a family. The recruits understand early on they are a team and a family and they work together as one unit. We strive for cohesiveness so they understand going to field patrol/jail setting they have each other as a unit. No one works alone!! This run shows that cohesiveness.

In 9 years, I've gone from apprentice plumber to VP at Hoffmann Brothers. Here are 6 things I’ve picked up about career advancement. 1. When I make a mistake, I need to own it. 2. As a leader, when somebody on my team makes a mistake, I need to own that too. 3. “I don’t know but will find out” is a better answer than “I don’t know.” 4. I need to understand the roles above and below me on the org chart so I can manage up and down the organization. 5. Supporting my team members below me on the org chart matters more than impressing people at the top. 6. My best path toward advancement is learning my job as well as I can. I hadn't yet learned any of these lessons when I walked into the Hoffmann Brothers' warehouse unannounced and asked to talk to a manager about a job. But these are just several of the biggest things I've learned. Any lessons you'd add to the list?
