This is strong. It should act as a motivator for other gridlocked communities nationwide. It proves that the delays often experienced are unnecessary and avoidable. Time truly is money, and if affordable units can be realized due to reduced entitlement periods and hurdles versus subsidies, that’s a true win win. This is not a staff problem, it’s a process and policy problem. Staff is often expected to expedite or sidestep but not granted the necessary discretion to act. The solution must come top down, and Mayor Bass proves that.
