The FAR Council has published a final rule creating a new part of the FAR--Part 40--focused on information security and supply chain security when the government acquires goods and services. The new rule doesn't implement any new policies or procedures. But significantly, it creates a single place in the FAR where, according to rule, the government and contractors will be able to readily find information security or supply chain security policies or procedures (citing Section 889's telecommunications rule as an example). The rule notes that a separate rulemaking will be issued to relocate the policies and procedures from elsewhere in the FAR into Part 40. Those who track cybersecurity requirements for government contractors will want to be prepared for the rule. Link is below. https://lnkd.in/etei7Tdd

VP, Defense & Intelligence, IBM | Board Member, AFCEA DC Chapter | Spearheading the Application of Advanced Technology to Federal Missions
With cybersecurity for our coalition militaries, there can be no gaps. Integrating all branches, nations, and even commercial technology is more than necessary, including our space industry. U.S. military leaders are trying to team up with the private sector to cover their blind spots and increase their cybersecurity posture. I couldn’t think of a better move to make. As mentioned in the article, space assets can be destroyed or disabled with kinetic effects, but cyber threats can be just as deadly while being much harder to trace. Threats are no longer simply on the ground. It sounds like fiction, but these threats are in space, too. #USMilitary #Cybersecurity #CommercialSpaceIndustry
