Launching a feature with AI? Don't use a generic UI label like "AI Assist" in your product. It doesn't provide the user with enough information to help them accomplish their task. Write the label according to the actual task being done and test it with users. For example, Mural has a AI feature that evaluates the semantic meaning of multiple stickies, arranges them in like categories, and generates the category title. The label is simply called "Cluster by Topic". Another example is with Slack, which has a feature labeled "Summarize". When you click on it a panel opens up with the title labeled "Slack AI", and summarizes the messages in a given thread. Depending on the AI feature you may consider designing your UI so that there are opportunities for AI to appear in real-time based on your interaction. For example, LinkedIn has a "Rewrite with AI" button, but perhaps they could instead expand the UI to include a space where AI content could appear, whether it's providing some recommended rewrites. If you do have an AI that is listening by default, consider including the option to suspend it. #microcopy #ai #interactiondesign
