To get the year off to a good start, we'd like to introduce you to one of our consortium partners: Centro Ricerche Fiat (#CRF). Established in 1978 in #Orbassano as a focal point for research activities of Stellantis N.V. Group, it represents its Company in European and National collaborative research programs, joining pre-competitive projects and promoting networking actions, from #industry and academia, and to support #Stellantis in the protection and enhancement of intellectual property. 🕵♂️ We asked them two questions: 🎤Can you tell us about CRF's main areas of research? 🎙CRF develops research and innovation along the three principal axes of #sustainability: 🌿 Environmental Sustainability, which encompasses all aspects relating to #energy efficiency as well as to the reduction of the impact on the #environment over the entire #lifecycle of the vehicle; 👍 Social Sustainability, focusing on the #safety of transportation systems through the development of active, passive, preventive and cooperative solutions while addressing the #mobility of all users irrespective of their specific needs; 💶 Economically sustainable #competitiveness, oriented towards viable innovation, i.e., improving the performance and functionality of new vehicles in a cost-effective manner while reducing the time-to-market of #research results. 🎤Why was it important for you to join the SOLVE project? What will your role be? 🎙#SSB technology represent a potential “holy grail” for the #automotive applications thanks to the higher energy density, the improved safety and the cheaper manufacturing claimed. Excluding the enthusiastic declarations several technical drawbacks hindering the application of this technology in the mass production, so to be part of R&D project related to the topic is very important to drive the development to the mobility needs. Within #SOLVE Project, CRF will lead the specification work and support the consortium as an End User from automotive sector. In particular, as Leader of WP1, CRF provide the technical requirements for a SSB #cell potentially applied in an #BEV battery pack, and supporting WP5 in the validation of the developed technology thanks to a fully-equipped laboratory able to test the performance and durability of the cells in a wide range of conditions.
