As I was watching the State of the Union a few weeks ago something stuck out to me. The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES SAID “For millions of renters, we’re cracking down on big landlords who break antitrust laws by price-fixing and driving up rents”. As this is something I have been following closely it was shocking to hear the President himself address this. Last week in a speech he said he would be taking action to fight “rent gouging among corporate landlords”. Turns out this is not just talk. As Arizona joins the frenzies of lawsuits against RealPage, and RealPage hires lawyers known for bailing corporations out after massive scandal, it is being reported that the DOJ has stepped up its investigation into RealPage and could pursue criminal charges. All the links are in this update to my recent blog on the issue. As I said the last time I spoke about this topic RealPage is the owner of HomeWiseDocs. This pattern of behavior is nothing new to what we have seen over the last decade or so, and my "catchphrase" when discussing this issue has become "birds of a feather". What's really concerning to me is that RealPage is not the only one getting sued but the property managers and complexes themselves are also getting dragged into these suits regardless of if they knew what they were doing. This has become a fear of mine in the HOA management industry for those who are blindly trusting HomeWiseDocs. These are just some of the reasons why I have decided to maintain full control of GDN and never sell out to corporations. GDN was founded on making life easier for all stakeholders in the resale process and maximizing the efficiency and profit, within the laws and ethical standards, of management companies. https://lnkd.in/gdJJrrYe
