🤔💇♂️ Barber’s Dilemma: A Hairy Situation! 💈✂️ Ever heard the saying, “Never ask a barber if you need a haircut”? Let me tell you, Daniel S. Greenberg was onto something profound, and not just about your hairstyle choices. Think about it. It’s like asking a coffee addict if you should have another espresso (spoiler: the answer is always yes) or a cat if it needs more treats (trust me, the kitty court will always rule in favor of more snacks). But let’s dive deeper. This witty quip is actually a life lesson in disguise. It’s about seeking advice from those who might have a, let’s say, ‘biased’ perspective. Like asking your mother if your childhood macaroni art belongs in a museum – love you, Mom, but maybe I wasn’t the pint-sized Picasso we thought I was! In my coaching program and book, ‘Welcome to Your Thought Life’, I delve into this concept. It’s all about understanding who to turn to for guidance, and when it’s better to trust your own judgment. After all, you’re the master of your destiny, not the barber holding the scissors to your future (or your bangs). So, next time you’re pondering a big decision, remember the barber and think: Who’s holding the scissors in this scenario? #LifeLessonsFromTheBarberShop #TrustYourGut #BarberWisdom #johnalanturnercoaching

Love this posted today from James Clear: "I think about decisions in three ways: hats, haircuts, and tattoos. Most decisions are like hats. Try one and if you don’t like it, put it back and try another. The cost of a mistake is low, so move quickly and try a bunch of hats. Some decisions are like haircuts. You can fix a bad one, but it won’t be quick and you might feel foolish for a while. That said, don't be scared of a bad haircut. Trying something new is usually a risk worth taking. If it doesn't work out, by this time next year you will have moved on and so will everyone else. A few decisions are like tattoos. Once you make them, you have to live with them. Some mistakes are irreversible. Maybe you'll move on for a moment, but then you'll glance in the mirror and be reminded of that choice all over again. Even years later, the decision leaves a mark. When you're dealing with an irreversible choice, move slowly and think carefully." ~ Hat tip to Tim Ferriss

Coach for Embodied Presence, Public Speaker and Author at Body-Linguistics. I help professionals to use their body intelligence to communicate with impact and integrity. Your breath is the key!
The other day... I go out to run some errands and to get a haircut. It's not particularly sunny, but rather grayish. Despite that, here is what happens: In the queue at the supermarket: the man behind me gives me space, smiles and is very attentive In the drugstore: People make space and are very friendly. At the hairdresser's: The barber greets me with a big smile and is immediately there for me. Where ever I go I am received with friendliness, respect, and...space It feels so good. It feels like being in love. Being in Love with life -and the people around me. Here comes the secret: It's not just luck or a random phenomenon. I am in a good mood, I am centered and I have space inside. That gives space around me and radiates to the people around me. It feels like that because I took care of my inner energy and my body. Would you like to feel like that, too? Here comes the secret: You can't control the people or the surrounding circumstances. What you can take care of is how you feel inside and how you show up with other people! You are responsible for your own happiness. How do to take care of your inner energy ? One way is: Pelvic grounding. Check here for the online course: https://lnkd.in/eDFQQGnf #innerpeace #connection #bodyawareness #radiance #onlinecoaching Portraitphoto by@ Fokke van Saane

Turns out black doesn't go with everything! Well, not my face atleast! Last week, I popped along to Nina Victoria for a colour analysis, and my eyes were well and truly opened! As somebody who has adopted a uniform of black tshirt and jeans over the past two years; because it was easy and 'anybody can pull it off', I was pretty shocked to find that my daily outfit was actually making me look quite ill - with enough dark circles and grey pallor to rival any heavy hangover! I would in fact be better off with a nice grey number, or even better a bright orange one apparently! I learnt a lot at my session, here are the top 3: > It's difficult to appraise yourself honestly. I like to think of myself as pretty self aware, however I was way off in my estimation of something as plain view as which colours suited me best. Sometimes, all the introspection in the world can still leave you lost, and a second perspective can be just what you need to clear a path. > Experts make your life easy! I'm often guilty of thinking 'why would I pay for that, I'm sure I can figure it out!'. Often I can, but it takes more time, creates bigger stress, and will never be quite as good as if I'd just asked an expert to help me out with their years of experience! Your expert will often teach you valuable keynotes along the way too! Nina turned a task I'd been picking up and putting down for over a year, in to a single appointment in my diary, in which she imparted enough of her knowledge to give me the tools to go it alone, without feeling overwhelmed by too much information. > Nina has the patience of a saint! I was not a natural judge of colour and Nina remained an absolute joy throughout! (Thanks!) What's your black tshirt? Where have you been stuck in life that might benefit from a second pair of eyes? Even if it feels uncomfortable! What are you Googling and just not getting round to learning that you could just outsource to an expert? If you're interested; turns out I'm an Autumn who looks great in very luxe colours, but particularly so in grassy greens and Blippi orange! I'm off shopping! #ColourAnalysis #SelfDevelopment #AskanExpert #FemaleBusinessOwner

Stop looking at yourself as a singular figure There are thousands of different things that make up a person and life. Instead of trying to find a magic bullet to fix all of your problems and just focus on one. Don’t like the way you look? Instead of trying to change everything about your appearance just pick one thing. Is your hair dried out? Maybe you need to switch shampoos? Constant money issues... Could you start packing your lunch instead of ordering out? Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were you so don’t try to change in a day. Pick one small thing you’d like to improve and stick with it til you’re satisfied. Then pick another and keep going. Before you know it you’ll be the person you’ve always strived to be and it was so much easier than you thought.

I LOVE this quote from James Clear... So true! I think about decisions in three ways: hats, haircuts, and tattoos. Most decisions are like hats. Try one and if you don’t like it, put it back and try another. The cost of a mistake is low, so move quickly and try a bunch of hats. Some decisions are like haircuts. You can fix a bad one, but it won’t be quick and you might feel foolish for awhile. When you're dealing with an irreversible choice, move slowly and think carefully. #weissmarterthanme
