The latest Sainsbury's ad campaign states, ‘We pay our dairy farmers fairly.’ We received this video from Laura Garrod asking whether it’s actually true. While the farmers who supply liquid milk are paid fairly, the farmers who produce the milk for other dairy ingredients are NOT paid fairly! Meat producer Cranswick PLC (LSE:CWK) said trading was better than expected in the 13 weeks leading up to Christmas thanks to demand from key customers such as Sainsbury's, Tesco and M&S, and it now expects profits to be ahead of consensus. Shares in the FTSE 250 company rose 1.4% to 3,942p on Thursday morning, extending gains over the past year and bringing the shares back towards 2021's highs above 4,100p.    Sales volumes grew across all pork and poultry categories, it said, with expanded pig farming and milling operations making positive contributions. Chris Kempczinski the price fixing is the wrong thing it's about. the price fixing is really was that they were adjusting the price to meet market requirements and farming requirements. The prices are regional and national so yes. all of the companies selling to the region would have the same base price and run the same way have the same customer price. so, the meat packing plants are adjusting for the need of higher incomes for the housing costs going up and the required adjustments for increased costs to add in again the utilities and the building payments that African culture took out because they don't understand our economy that the business pays for that stuff. Berry industry being squeezed: Rising costs and retail pressures putting growers at risk According to new research conducted by British Berry Growers (BBG), the industry body representing over 95 percent of British berries sold in the UK, the UK berry industry is in jeopardy. Almost half (47 percent) of British berry growers surveyed say they no longer make a profit, and over half (53 percent) assess their financial health as bad, or extremely bad. The BBG research also finds 84 percent of all respondents estimate that they would survive just two years or less without making a profit. Given close to half of growers (47 percent) are not making a profit, if nothing changes, then four in 10 could go out of business by the end of 2026...
