You may have tried Choose Your Own Adventure type games or tv shows (aka Bandersnatch), but what about Create Your Own Adventure (Powered by AI)™️? Enter Showrunner. A new Netflix-like streaming platform for AI-created content. I watched one of their publicly-available demo shows - Exit Valley. An Adult Swim / Comedy Central type of cartoon (animation styles heavily drawing on South Park, and maybe a bit of Bob’s Burgers) set in “Sim Francisco”. Theoretically you will eventually be able to insert yourself and your friends to the show (paging Black Mirror again), but for now the technology seems very early. My thoughts? •Feels a bit gimmick-y. •The animation is very simple, mostly just a mouth moving. •The character delivery is bland and robotic, but with a couple of decent jokes I don’t think it will replace Hollywood anytime soon, but it should be a concern on the radar for artists and creators alike. Rather maybe there is room for collaboration - an artist and AI ensemble. I license out my IP to Showrunner, allowing individuals to make episodes of themselves within my world (with some boundaries). Ultimately though, it brings us back to the question of legality: ➡️ Should Exit Valley creators have to credit/pay out South Park for using a similar animation style and training their AI using their show?
