Have you seen the new movie Flamin' Hot yet? If not, I highly recommend checking it out - it's an incredibly inspiring true story that I think has great lessons for all of us. The film chronicles how Richard Montañez, a Mexican-American janitor at Frito-Lay, defied the odds and created the iconic Flamin' Hot Cheetos flavor. Despite facing a lot of skepticism, he trusted his own creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to bring his product idea to life. Three key takeaways that really resonated with me: 1. Don't let your job title limit your potential. Montañez didn't let being a janitor stop him from tapping into his innovative side. It's a great reminder to always cultivate our creativity, no matter our role. 2. Persistence pays off. Montañez encountered a lot of naysayers, but he refused to give up. His determination is truly inspiring - it shows that success often comes from having the grit to keep pushing forward. 3. Leverage your unique perspective. As an outsider in the corporate world, Montañez brought a fresh, diverse point of view that allowed him to identify an unmet market need. His story highlights the power of diverse thinking. Flamin' Hot is just such an uplifting tale of following your entrepreneurial dreams. I walked away feeling motivated to embrace my own creativity and keep striving, even when the path isn't clear.
