One of my connections, Robert Geiger , is participating in this discussion panel at the ChemOutsourcing show in 2024! If you're in the life sciences and going to be in the area, might as well stop by. Should be an insightful discussion!

ChemOutsourcing, which takes place in September, features a panel discussion on sourcing GLP-1-based therapeutics. That is 3 months from now. Will the shortages of incretin-based therapeutics be a thing of the past by then? I doubt it. Will we see any hints of change in manufacturing strategies to tackle the enormous environmental issues of using standard SPPS technology at multi-metric ton scale? I am skeptical. Will that issue even be discussed? Let us wait and see. The panel discussion should certainly be interesting. It would be great to have environmental chemists and representatives of alternative manufacturing technologies in the audience or on the panel to enliven the session.

Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals PLC (LSE:HEMO, OTC:HOPHF) Dr Vladislav Sandler joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion after the pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical group raised £3.5 million, which will be utilized to progress its lead product candidate, Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells (HEMO-CAR-T), into human trials following the lifting of a clinical hold. The HEMO-CAR-T therapy is focused on treating relapsed and refractory acute myeloid leukaemia. Despite the challenging market conditions, particularly for biotech firms, Sandler said HemoGenyx successfully secured the necessary funds. He highlighted the company's efficiency and ability to progress with minimal funds, contrasting the struggles faced by other micro-cap companies in raising capital. Biopharmaceutical company Alkeus Pharmaceuticals announced topline results from study evaluating investigational oral therapy gildeuretinol (ALK-001) for the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA), secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). According to the company’s news release, the double-masked, randomized, placebo-controlled SAGA trial found a statistically significant reduction in the GA lesion growth rate of 15.3% versus placebo from 6 to 24 months (p=0.047) and a slowing in GA growth rate of 13.4% from baseline to 24 months (p=0.075), which were the study’s primary endpoints.
