It’s easy to say the government should take care of those in need, but the truth is, change starts with us. Too often, the same people making these statements don’t give to nonprofits, don’t volunteer, and don’t actively contribute to their communities—they just complain. Let me be real for a moment: at All Hoods Unite, we pour our hearts into feeding the hungry, providing outreach, and supporting those in need. But honestly, it can be discouraging. Only a handful of people have donated, and only a few have volunteered. We give so much of ourselves, and some days, it feels like we’re running on empty. Giving is exhausting when it’s not reciprocated. But what keeps us going is the belief that our work matters—that every meal served, every smile shared, and every bit of hope we give is worth it.
