A week ago, I took a few moments of everybody’s time to post a picture and CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) link to our 10-year-old Great Dane, Fabian. We are preservation breeders with a goal of producing healthy, long live dogs for which we except lifetime responsibility. This is what preservation breeders do. The following post illustrates what happens when people purchase puppies from backyard breeders, pet shops, and online pet wholesalers. This is a copy of a Facebook post made by my wife Cynthia, who operates Community Canines, a 501 C3 organization formed to assist in keeping dogs out of shelters and helping to place them if they end up in a shelter. Please read on: “This is Bella. She will most likely be euthanized in a few days at the Riverside County (Coachella) Shelter. Through no fault of her own, her owners dumped her in the desert after selling her babies. Her hold time will be up in a few days and she will be eligible to kill. If anyone can save her, please do. Someone knows who her owners are and who did this to her and we are trying to get that information from the person who knows so that the barbaric owners can be held accountable for this crime. Until then, Bella's life is on the line and she will probably be dead before we can do much. We cannot take her in because we are full, like most rescues and so are our fosters. We need funds so that we can complete spays/neuters on the dogs we have in care, currently. Once they are spayed/neutered, we can adopt them out. Each time one is adopted, it makes room for one more for us to save. If you cannot adopt or foster, please consider making a monetary donation to us so that we can save more... To donate, please use zelle if possible because there are no fees. If you send us an email after you donate, we can send you a tax deductible, donation receipt. zelle to: donate@communityk9s.org Community Canines a 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Charity - Tax ID # 36-4943438 (The Great Dane Rescue of Southern California is one division of Community Canines, an all-animal rescue) Our mailing address is: 1119 S. Mission Road #354, Fallbrook, Ca 92028 Our Administrative office address is: 26845 Jefferson Avenue, Suite "A", Murrieta, Ca 92562 (we do not keep or process dogs at this location, but we do accept "in-kind" donations at this address). email: info@communityk9s.org If you can save this sweet girl, please do...”

Pet welfare depends much on the well-being of pet owners! What a concept! Thinking more broadly of the Cause supported by your foundation, business, general giving... or even if you are the nonprofit working to serve the Cause, may contribute to more comprehensive and lasting solutions to hunger, homelessness, poverty, crime, pollution--- and yes, even the care and welfare of pets! 'Throwing good money after bad' is no way to operate a charitable foundation or nonprofit! Hats off to Maddie's Fund for reaching this conclusion and shifting its focus to supporting more comprehensive, innovative and permanent solutions to end the abuse and neglect of our furry friends! What is your foundation or nonprofit doing to put an end to the root causes at fault for fueling the ongoing need and problems that you battle? #nonprofits #foundations #purpose #mission #vision #cause

#PlannedGiving can include many facets of a #donor's life, and pets are certainly an increasingly common topic of conversation and consideration. All #nonprofit organizations need policies for how they will deal with gifts with "strings" (like care of a pet) and animal-focused charities, in particular, need to be prepared for gift offers with animal care provisions. Will you always say, "no" (or "yes")? Is "yes," dependent upon the gift size/terms? There isn't a right or wrong answer, you just want to make sure you know what you will do so you can communicate that clearly and confidently with potential donors when it comes up. Gift acceptance policy is one of the first things we help organizations address as they launch (or grow) their #legacygiving efforts. https://lnkd.in/epsx8aeh

Our research shows that as the cost of dog ownership rises, so does the love and commitment from pet owners 💙 75% of dog owners are cutting back on their own spending to afford to care for the canine companions. With vet bills averaging £679 a year, many are turning to more affordable food or grooming their dogs at home. At Guide Dogs, we’re also feeling the strain, as the expense of caring for our life-changing guide dogs grows. “We know all too well the pressures people are facing to provide the best care for their dogs. At Guide Dogs, we shoulder all the major costs for our guide dogs throughout puppyhood and their working lives.” That’s why this October, we’re asking for your help with The Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal, so we can continue providing life-changing guide dog partnerships to those with sight loss 🐕🦺❤️ Whether you sponsor a puppy, make a donation, or shop with us, you can help ensure our guide dogs can keep changing lives. Head over to The Guide Dogs Puppy Appeal page to see how you can help 👉 bit.ly/3Cob3Lv #GuideDogs #PuppyAppeal #SupportGuideDogs #NonProfit #SightLossAwareness Image description - A yellow lab puppy having their teeth checked by a member of the breeding team.

Communities across the country are telling us that animal shelters are overwhelmed and struggling to provide food for a growing number of cats and dogs. While an average of 6.5 million animals enter shelters each year, only 3.2 million are adopted, meaning there are more and more bellies to fill each year. Unfortunately, pet meals are already one of the most significant expenses for shelters and rescue groups year-round. That's why this #GivingTuesday, Greater Good Charities is hosting a Pet Food Drive to help shelters and rescues across the country feed homeless pets. A tax-deductible gift of just $25 can help provide 500 meals to dogs and cats in need. Click below to help us reach our goal of 2 million meals for shelter pets! 💙 #AmplifyTheGood https://hubs.ly/Q02ZlZ6D0

🌟 The holiday season is quickly approaching, and if you're in a position to share, it's the perfect time to remember our furry friends in need. 🐾 While we're taking advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales from businesses like Chewy and Amazon, let's not forget about the pets waiting for their forever homes in shelters and those whose families could use a little boost this year. 😺 Consider purchasing extra food and toys during the sales to donate to local pet food banks or animal shelters. Many shelters and rescues also have wish lists—check with local agencies to see what they need most! You can often find out where your local pet food bank is by contacting other food banks or your local shelter. 🛍️🐶🐱 🐶 You can also sponsor a shelter pet, volunteer your time, or set up collection bins at your workplace so colleagues can contribute. Together, we can make this season brighter for all pets, especially those still waiting for their forever families. 💛 ❤️ And if you need pet food assistance this year, don't hesitate to reach out to your local pet food bank. Food should be a basic right, and everyone deserves to eat, our furry companions included. #HolidayGiving #SupportShelters #PetsInNeed #BlackFriday #CyberMonday #PetDonation #VolunteerForAnimals #ShelterPets #AdoptDontShop #CommunitySupport #PetCareEssentials

Please watch this video on #InternationalHomelessAnimalsDay
#InternationalHomelessAnimalsDay is a great reminder of #whatwedo here at #StreetVet and why. At StreetVet, we firmly believe that the greatest gift is the human-animal bond and that no one should ever have to choose between their pet or a roof over their heads. Every pet deserves to live their best life as happy and healthy as possible! This is why we have helped more than 2,800 pets across 23 outreach locations since StreetVet first started back in 2016. We have, provided education through e-learning platforms for 99 hostel staff members in 26 StreetVet accredited hostels, so that pets and their humans can stay together to start #rebuildinglives and begin their next chapter. StreetVet has also been challenging YOU to fundraise on our behalf to help us deliver free veterinary treatment to the pets of those experiencing #homelessness. Without the help of all our supporters, we wouldn't be able to continue our vital work to care for pets like Bluebell, when she and her owner were residents in a StreetVet Accredited Hostel. Or provide pets like Billy with treatment for his cough or support Freddie with his recovery journey after he was attacked by another dog and needed hydrotherapy, achieving the goal of helping him to walk again! You can make a HUGE difference in a pet's life by becoming a regular donator and supporter of StreetVet HERE 👉https://lnkd.in/e3HPHxHT Some of the footage used in this video was kindly recorded for StreetVet by The Meraki Initiative, SHB Creative Content and tails.com 💙 #SupportStreetVet #HelpingOthers #Homelessness #AnimalCharity #Donate #ChampionChange #MakeaDifference #CompassionInAction

Where the Pet Industry boomed and rose after Covid now the increase in Vet Bills has caused a significant impact on the industry. As Covid turned out to be the best time for the Pet Industry where in the United Kingdom more than 50% of people owned pets and surprisingly in America the pet industry started to give competition to the Sports Industry and became one of the Top industries in the world. Unfortunately, for the last 2 years the rise in the living cost as well as in vet bills and pets essentials has led to people giving up on pets and leaving them to sanctuaries and rescue centres again. During this hard time one of the Women who should be saluted named Wendy Isaacs from wiltshire has opened a Pet Food Bank since December, 2022. Many people who have pets come and take what they need for their pets. She also runs a Facebook page of 900 members in which Donars and Beneficiaries both are added. People usually donate Food, bedding and other essentials for Pets. She remarked this as an opportunity to help those in need so they cannot give up on their pets. She states: " Many People come and take donations but also some also leave taking donations when their crisis is sorted out which makes us feel accomplished ". In this hard time where the Pet industry has taken a massive hit the prices and increased in bills should be reconsidered and sorted out to keep the industry booming and keeping pet owners along with their Pets. #UK #ENGLAND #PETINDUSTRY #PETS #PAWSPERFECTOFAMILY #PETLOVERS

🎄🐾 4 Ways You Can Help Local Animal Shelters This Holiday Season! 🐾🎄 The holidays are a time for giving, and what better way to spread the love than by helping the animals in our community! Here are 4 easy ways you can support your local Michigan animal shelters this season: 1. Donate Supplies 🧸🧼 Animal shelters are always in need of everyday items like blankets, toys, cleaning supplies, and pet food. Check with your local shelter for their current needs and consider making a donation! 2. Give a Financial Gift 💵 Monetary donations allow shelters to direct resources where they are most needed—whether it’s covering medical bills, food, or rescue operations. Even a small contribution can make a big difference! 3.Foster a Pet 🏡❤️ Opening your home to a foster pet is a wonderful way to help. Fostering allows shelters to save more animals by freeing up space, and it gives the pet a loving temporary home while they await their forever family. 4. Volunteer Your Time 🙋♂️🐕 Shelters are often looking for extra hands during the busy holiday season. Whether it’s walking dogs, socializing cats, or assisting with adoption events, your time and care are invaluable. Together, we can make this holiday season a little brighter for the animals who need us most. 💕 Let’s spread the joy and show our furry friends they’re loved! #HolidayGiving #SupportLocalShelters #GiveBack
