Making the leap from a corporate job in Admin & HR to full-time graphic design has been both thrilling and nerve-wracking. At first, I was overwhelmed - leaving behind a stable, predictable job for something as creative and uncertain as design felt like a massive risk. I found myself constantly wondering if I'd be able to make it in a field that demands constant creativity and staying ahead of trends. One thing that made this transition a bit more manageable was my experience with freelance graphic design. I started freelancing as a way to unwind from the stress of my corporate job, and it quickly became something I truly loved. Seeing my freelance projects come to life gave me a sense of accomplishment and joy that I wasn't getting from my 8-5. It became clear that this was where my heart was, and it gave me the courage to make the full-time switch. Now, as a full-time creative designer for a soft-furnishing company, I've been diving into some exciting projects. Recently, I've been working on a few product catalogs for the upcoming collections. It's been incredibly fulfilling to see my design come to life in such a tangible way. Even with these positive changes, diving in full-time hasn't been without its challenges, especially as I'm in my 30s. There's this extra pressure to have things sorted out and to build a stable future. I also find myself missing certain aspects of my corporate role before - camaraderie with colleagues, the structured environment, and even the daily grind that kept me on my toes. The stress of the corporate world was real. but so was the sense of belonging and purpose. Despite these mixed emotions, it feels incredibly rewarding to finally be doing something that resonates with me on such a deep level. It's scary to step into the unknown, but the excitement of creating something new every day keeps me motivated. I'm learning that it's never too late to pursue your passion, even if it means navigating through uncertainty and missing the old routines. The Struggle of Hiring a Graphic Designer – What We Learned Recently, our company faced the dilema of how to handle our growing graphic design needs: ⁉️Do we bring a Graphic Designer in-house or go the freelance/agency route? Having someone in-house meant they’d know our brand inside-out and be available on the spot, but it also came with higher costs and limited flexibility. On the flip side, outsourcing offered access to specialized talent and scalability, but sometimes communication was tricky, and keeping things consistent across projects wasn’t easy. 📌We ended up weighing all the pros and cons—immediate access, budget, consistency—and learned there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
