While the safety and stability of permanent structures are comprehensively addressed in various international codes of practice, the risks associated with structures during their construction phase are often underappreciated. The erection of bridges, which heavily relies on the chosen construction method, takes into account the entire construction period—from factory fabrication to on-site assembly and final operation. However, building structures, particularly simpler ones, sometimes lack adequate design and verification during construction when the loads and material behaviour may be different. It is the responsibility of designers and professional service providers to ensure the safety and stability of these structures throughout the construction process.
